We all love memes. We all love Overwatch.

Memes are usually snarky, sarcastic, or delivers an inside-joke that is known by people of the target demographic. Seeing as Overwatch is a massively popular video game, it's not surprising tyhat gamers and fans from all over have created a bevy of hilarious memes for everyone to enjoy.

As a child of the 90s, I didn't really learn about memes until one of my ex-girlfriends introduced me to the concept six years ago. Since she was an avid online gamer, most of the memes I was exposed to were about gaming. Through a steady diet of memes from 9Gag and other humor websites, I started creating my own memes for various online communities I am a part of, including gaming, music, and even Transformers fandoms.

For this article, we are going to view some of the best Overwatch memes ever created on the world wide web. Those who are familiar with the game will find some of them giggle-worthy. Like always, feel free to voice your opinions and recommend some hilarious Overwatch memes to us on our various social media accounts, such as Facebook. Enjoy these Dank Memes!

15 It's Always High Noon

via imgur

To McCree, anytime is High Noon. Well, at least that is the case when you activate his Ultimate Ability. McCree is as stereotypical and cliché cowboy character as they come. Heck, even his name is cliché. He looks like the prototypical outlaw or maybe he belongs in the sequel of Red Dead Redemption. That being said, even his utterance of High Noon is extremely cliché. Much to the vein of all this stereotypical dialog, this High Noon meme has been repeated with different characters for comedic effect, but nothing beats the original High Noon hero. I am pretty sure I can do a list just of McCree memes. That's how ridiculous this character is to netizens around the globe.

14 Bastion Gets Play Of The Game

via cheats.co

Here's something you will never see. To the fan community of Overwatch, the hero known as Bastion is a bipolar relationship. First, he was considered overpowered. After the balancing, he was considered garbage. Like with everything on the internet, there are supporters from both sides of the fence, and they cannot stop arguing with each other. I understand that him being stationary in his turret mode really hinders his effectiveness, because he is easily countered in the meta. Anyways, some very snarky fans decided to create “fake news” photos to poke fun at Bastion's relative ineffectiveness. Ah, like they say, “You can't please everybody.”

13 The Legendary Trash

via overwatchmemes.tumblr.com

Nothing beats the thrill of landing an epic or legendary item from a loot box in Overwatch, especially if you spent real money to purchase them. The odds of acquiring a legendary item is at a ratio of nearly 1 to 13.5 boxes. Not entirely very assuring considering that each box cost nearly one US Dollar to purchase. When you finally get something good and realize you already have it in your inventory, the reaction is priceless. Sure, you get compensated for duplicate items, but nothing is more infuriating that getting something that is super rare, but not being able to use it. It is almost like having a golden piece of trash, isn't it? Well, then this meme certainly explains this situation quite well then.

12 You, Me, And McCree... And Curious George

via pinterest

Well, most of the characters of Overwatch are pretty cliché, to say the least. People of the internet sure love to poke fun at McCree, an offensive hero that looks like every Western gunslinger cliché imaginable. Teamed with the gorilla known as Winston, they make quite the duo, until those childhood memories make you realize that they look like Curious George and Man With The Yellow Hat, otherwise known as Ted, all grown up. Believe me, this isn't the only person to point this out. If you search for McCree, Winston, and Curious George, a whole lot of silly references are available for your viewing pleasure. Once you see it, you cannot ever “unsee” it. What did we get ourselves into this time?

11 The Hanzo Headshot

via dorkly

“Hanzo 400 Damage In One Headshot?” Yes, this was considered a glitch by a gamer on Battle Net in February. Gamers always complain about things to the developers and Hanzo's amazingly powerful headshot was the topic of much discussion. For some reason, Hanzo's headshot was incredibly overpowered, where it was possible to one-shot someone even if they are buffed. Therefore, there was one thing most Hanzo players were looking to do when they picked him: Go for the headshot. If you weren't skilled to do that, maybe you can aim for someone's shoulder and then complain about it to tech support. True to gaming exploits, this meme describes the nature of these players even complaining that they had a headshot even though they totally missed the victim's head. You can't please everyone, Blizzard. Everyone complains, don't they?

10 Balls Of War

via 9gag

When your main method of offense and defense is through the orbs floating around your body, it makes you an easy target for a double entendre. This one definitely fulfills the requirement, with literal and risque meanings. There isn't much to explain folks, as this one gets straight to the point. I guess when Blizzard was going to create a Nepalese monk character, one who can call upon the power of orbs or floating balls was an interesting design choice. Zenyatta is actually one of Chris Metzen's favorite heroes in Overwatch, so it has a lot of credibility coming from the right place. Because Zenyatta floats like an Overwatch Dhalsim, he actually has no footstep sounds, making sneaking around levels one of his major attributes.

9 It Would Be Unfortunate...

via knowyourmeme

Game designers are often the target of nerd rage, especially when it deals with the idea of in-game balancing. Well, most of the time it is because a character or weapon is too powerful, game balancing would cause them to be nerfed, or toned-down and weakened for the sake of fairness. The game director of Overwatch, Jeff Kaplan, became the target of angry gamers who were questioning which characters and weapons should receive nerfs and which should not. In the world of gaming, beggars want to be choosers, as well. Without going too much into the issue of fan anger during the beginning of Overwatch's life cycle, this meme is a culmination of fan outrage targeted at one single person who's going to be responsible for ruining your fun.

8 Revive?!

via imgrum

Working hard to decimate an opposing team only to have Mercy step in and revive her teammates after you just burned your Ultimate Ability? Sounds like a major shame in my book. Often referred to by Overwatch gamers as Ults, Ultimate Abilities are special moves that can be played after a meter has been filled up. Like with any game that has a super move, it should be used strategical, usually to finish off an opponent. Unfortunately, when you worked your way to have a brilliantly-planned battle plan and use your Ult at the right time and decimate the opposing team, Mercy can revive teammates and turn the tide of the battle, much to the chagrin of everyone involved. Don't you hate resurrection moves? Stupid Gill from Street Fighter 3, I am looking at you.

7 Run For Your Life!

via dorkly

Every character has a catchphrase when they use their particular Ultimate Ability. This meme is fitting because when you hear Hanzo say this phrase: “Ryuu ga waga teki wo kurai!” be sure to run for cover, because he is about to use his Ultimate Ability called Dragonstrike. What is Dragonstrike? Well, it has a spirit dragon darting its way across the level eating everyone in its path. So, pretty crazy super move. His catchphrase roughly translates to “Dragon, consume my foes.” Pretty much if you hear a certain Ultimate phrase, be sure to run for cover if you know what's best for you. Since I never play with Hanzo (bow and arrows aren't my bag), I will be the one running for my life.

6 Team Fortress 2 With Waifus

via imgur

Overwatch is often compared to another popular shooter called Team Fortress 2, a game developed and published by Valve. Despite the game having various classes of characters, each with their own unique attributes, it is just a testosterone festival filled with only male characters, not much in the form of eye candy, especially if you a teenage gamer looking for some ladies in spandex. Out comes Overwatch, which is filled with enough tight outfits and curves for days. Yes, it is indeed Team Fortress 2 with tons of eye candy or “Waifus.” If you are keen on Japanese popular culture, the word “waifu” should not need any further explanation. When it comes to Blizzard, games like WoW and Overwatch are loaded with adorable ladies to your heart's content.

5 Attack Commences...

via dorkly

What you do in the final 30 seconds of an Overwatch battle is up to you. Some destroy everything in sight, while others hang on for dear life. Pretty much, this is common to all multiplayer shooters, isn't it? Well, this Family Guy moment where the Griffin family is hiding from their neighbor Quagmire is one that Overwatch players can relate to. If I remember correctly, the Griffins were planning to climb Mount Everest when Quagmire dropped by for an impromptu visit. Believe me, there are a lot of Attack Commences memes, each with their unique take on the topic. If you don't believe me, there are even a bunch of Youtube videos dedicated to this phrase.

4 Zarya Gets No Love

via me.me

If you are a fan of Zarya, you were probably disappointed at the lack of available skins for her characters as opposed to the really nice creations the other tank characters in Overwatch all received in Loot Boxes. For a while, most of Zarya's skin consisted of alternative colors rather than actual redesigned outfits. Not sure if the designers at Blizzard were just lazy or dislike the pink haired dynamo, but Zarya loyalists were definitely not pleased with her treatment. Honestly, the fan-created concepts were astronomically better than Blizzard had to offer. Well, hope you are a d.Va fan instead! Because Zarya is not getting the love she deserves.

3 Mei In Ice

via glv.tumblr.com

Don't worry about those killers with guns. Just when you think when Mei is cornered, she has some special tricks up her sleeves from that giant puffy coat of hers. When Mei uses Cryo-Freeze, she encloses herself in a block of ice and ignores all incoming damage while she heals. Never flustered, Mei sits inside the ice tomb of her own making, smiling and telling herself that “This is fine.” Don't let those nerdy glasses and puffy coat fool you. This Chinese Miss Freeze is all about frustrating and scaring opponents. Mei in ice reminds me of when Ozzie creates a crystal shield around himself in Chrono Trigger. Remember Chrono Trigger? That was a fun game.

2 It's About To Explode

via me.me

In a similar vein to each Ultimate catchphrase in the game, run when you hear “Nerf This!” With d.Va's Ultimate Abilty, Nerf This is followed by her Self-Destruct move consisting of her ejecting from her giant mech after rigging the reactor to explode. The move itself deals an amazing 1000 damage and has a blast radius of nearly 20 meters. Yes, when you hear this, you cannot get out of the way fast enough. Knowing how d.Va is the video gamer of the bunch, her phrase of “Nerf This” has several meanings. First, it can be a sarcastic response to online gaming discourse. Secondly, d.Va is quite powerful and draws the urging from some gamers to have her nerfed. Thus, Nerf This is the perfect response to everything.

1 When Mei Walls You In With Her

via nowloading

As a defensive hero, Mei is not really one to attack enemies head-on. Rather, Mei's endothermic abilities makes her into an excellent support character for her team. Her strategically-placed walls can trap opponents into set areas to allow teammates to pick them off easily, essentially making them into a “sitting duck” ripe for the pickings. Keeping that in mind, this meme makes the most sense featuring a scream Ned Flanders who is trapped inside the Springfield church after a blizzard froze the front doors shut. If you are walled in by Mei, it pretty much means you are dead meat. As someone who owns the first 15 seasons of the Simpsons on DVD, I love anything related to Matt Groening's wonderful series.
