As of September 15, Destiny 2 has 1.3 million concurrent users beating the projected number of 1.2 million. So, if the Destiny 2 gaming community were a state, they would be larger than nine U.S. states including Rhode Island, Montana, Alaska, and Washington D.C.

It is an understatement to say this game is popular and is making a good impression on gamers. Even though many critics have had positive things to say about the game’s story in comparison to the first installment, for many people, the main draw to Destiny 2 are the multiplayer options. The Crucible, a 4v4 multiplayer mode has been all the rage according to online forums.

A new addition to Destiny 2, Guided Games, allows clans and other players the opportunity to meet up to tackle more challenging portions of the game like raids or trials. Speaking of raids, Destiny 2 has defied expectation by introducing the “secret” Leviathan raid level, where players can come together to discover hidden passageways and items below the Calus’, emperor of Cabal, palace. Bungie heard the cry of fans from Destiny 1 and delivered an even more immersive experience. However, are you prepared to support your clans, and take care of enemies along the way? You need to make sure you have the best items in your arsenal. This article touches on some of the best and worst things about the game, but this one focuses on the worst. Don't worry, it is designed to help you out. A bad gun or piece of armor can do just as much damage to you as an enemy attack because you are using up a slot that can go to a better weapon. So, here are the 15 awful weapons that everyone may use, but you need consider passing over.

15 A Dire Situation

via destiny.wikia.com

The Skull of Dire Ahamkara is an exotic helmet worn by the Warlock class. Everything with this helmet is incredibly conditional, which will probably not work for most play styles. Gaming is meant to get away from rules, not pile them on. (Some we need to follow, like killing people at respawn. You know who you are). You can take reduced damage…Only if you use a Nova Bomb, you can boost Defense value of the armor…Only if you consume a more powerful piece of armor. There are too many conditions to make this worth using. It’s a real shame because it looks so awesome. You are wearing a blinged-out ancient skull! The look and name will make many want try it out, but unless you have plans for the conditions, take a second look at something else.

14 Sleeping Lion…Hidden Damage

via youtube.com (yog dog)

The Fighting Lion is an elemental exotic grenade launcher. It has a perk that allows you to reload the weapon when it kills an enemy. This seems like a valuable thing to have. The only problem is that this gun does not do the amount of damage it should for a grenade launcher. Combine this with the fact that it only has one magazine. This makes it difficult to take advantage of the automatic reload perk because you are likely to not kill with it. You may do some damage, but you would have to finish an enemy off with something else. The only way this gun is useful is if you had a rapid one-shot kill. Unfortunately, this gun just does not do it.

13 They Look Cool But…

via powerpyx.com

The Synthocepts are exotic gauntlets for Titans. Their main perks are increased melee lunge range and improved damage when surrounded by enemies. While these are nice, this does not warrant an exotic slot. In PvP situations, you will likely not be close enough (rather, you should not be) to justify using these. Unless you are the Terminator or John Wick, you probably should not be lunging for anyone in this game. Also, if you are consistently getting surrounded in PvE situations, that is a different problem altogether. Every player is different, but conventional wisdom would probably tell you to keep enemies as far away as possible. This armor is for a player that plays it close, and not for someone who likes to play a more “well-rounded” game.

12 Restorative Titan Armor? Yeah Right!

via d2.destinygamewiki.com

Ever ride a bike or motorcycle? What do you look for in a helmet? Chances are you want it to hold up in case you crash. Well, the Legion-Bane class is built for the collision (very moderately) and may help you in recovery, but this armor has zero mobility. What good is a helmet if you cannot move in it? It is understandable that you cannot have everything in just one piece of armor, but it is not worth it if it impedes on something you really need. The Legion-Bane is for the Titan class, and it is no secret that one of your primary assets is your need to move around the map with brute force constantly. Without mobility, you will be a sitting duck to enemies. So, pass on this one.

11 Rockets Are Cool…Well They LOOK Cool

via youtube.com (Massive Trigger Gaming)

Ever since many of us were kids, one of our favorite things to do was create makeshift paper rocket launchers. We imagined how cool it would be to have one in real life. This is what makes rocket launchers so irresistible to many players. Think about it; you have a weapon that harnesses the power of a NASA shuttle right in your hands. However, at least in Destiny 2, not all are meant for effective damage. The Morrigan-D rocket launcher has a balanced set, average blast radius, velocity, and stability, but the handling is almost nonexistent. Imagine taking this thing for a spin, and the recoil is so bad you cannot hit anything. In a game like Destiny 2, you have to hit because success depends on it. Pass on this one.

10 Perfect Gauntlets…If You're Only Good With Grenades

via youtube.com (SirDimetrious)

The Karenstein Armlets, exotic armor for warlocks, are decent when it comes to resilience and recovery, but are terrible in mobility. So much so that it might cancel out the resilience factor. As established earlier, if you cannot move then you will always have to recover. Also, it is supposed to strengthen melee attacks and grant health recovery. While it does do this, it almost doubles recovery for grenade attacks. These are circumstantial and are only worth it if you use grenades as primary weaponry, it is not as conducive to other weapon choices. There are only a few useful grenade weapons that would warrant you to take a risk on this. If you have your plan together with these, it could work, but nine times out of ten you are going to want to pull out that submachine gun instead of grenades.

9 This Gun's Story Deserves No Origin

via wccftech.com

Imagine that you just came upon a swarm of Vex enemies, and you reach for that new gun, the Origin Story. It had a cool name so you figured you would try it out, but as you attempt to off the swarm because of the high range of the gun, you barely do any damage. Therein lies the problem of the Origin Story. It is a legendary auto rifle that shoots 450 RPM. However, as with many of the weapons on this list, it lacks the balance needed to be effective. It has a huge range, but not nearly enough impact, stability, or handling to make this gun worth it. What can you do with a weapon that shoots far but cannot cause considerable damage in the clutch? Rifles can be effective, but this one needs to be left alone.

8 The Noob Wings

via powerpyx.com

Go on and admit it, how many times have you picked up a weapon or armor just because it looked awesome? We have all indulged in this, but there are times where substance wins out over looks, and unfortunately, this is one of those times. The Wings of Sacred Dawn are an exotic chest armor for Warlock. They may be the coolest looking chest armor in the game. In PvE situations, it will suspend you in mid-air, and your precision will increase considerably as long as you have decent aim. If your aim is lacking, you probably should steer clear of these. Now for the real kicker, in PvP situations, this thing will make you a target for easy kills. You may get the drop on a few players, but experienced gamers will pluck you out of the sky. They look cool, and people will want them for this, but they will get you killed in multiplayer situations.

7 Nothing Valiant About This Armor

via d2.destinygamewiki.com

In PvP and PvE scenarios, you need a balance of mobility, recovery, and resilience. Everyone knows this. However, Destiny 2 may not make it easy for you to grab armor that acknowledges this perfect yin and yang. Therefore, you have to weigh the opportunity costs of what you need. RPC Valiant leg armor is said to improve recovery for Titans. Well, you are going to need a lot of it. It has insufficient mobility and recovery and has virtually no resilience. This means you are going to have to move around a lot to realize the benefits of the armor. This is the exact opposite situation from the Legion-Bane. There is nothing wrong with either scenario, but the shortcomings or the armor will make you have to over exhaust yourself to make up for what you do not have.

6 More Like Death Subtracted

via destiny.wikia.com

When you hear a name like The Death Adder for a submachine gun, it makes you want to take a second look. However, the saying goes that “you can’t trust a book by its cover,” and in this case, you cannot select a gun by its name. The Death Adder is a legendary submachine gun with 900 rpm. The only stat this gun has going for it is handling. It has one of the lowest impacts currently seen with barely any reload speed. The point of a machine gun is to be able to rail off as many bullets as possible in a short amount of time and reload quickly to continue the damage. Also, reaching that 900 RPM becomes difficult if the recoil is too much to handle.

5 Nothing But Shade For The Shaders

via techraptor.net

In the past couple of weeks, since Destiny 2’s arrival, uproar emerged among fans about the issue of Shaders. Shaders are items that can change the color of armor and patterns. It lets the player have more of a customizable experience. In Destiny 1 they could be used on any piece of armor, but in Destiny 2 they are single-use and are incredibly difficult to find. The easiest way to grab these is to use silver (which can be purchased with real money) to pay for the Shaders. The game is making players use real-world currency to buy them. The trouble to get this customizable feature makes it useless. Sorry to all those Call of Duty fans who like to add leopard stripes to guns.

4 Skip This Oath

via powerpyx.com

Nothing is more humiliating to an enemy than when they are killed with their weapon. In turn, nothing is more exhilarating to a warrior than being able to humiliate their enemy. Well, Bungie knows this and allowed players to own an enemy gun. The Skyburners Oath is an exotic scout rifle that is also a Cabal gun. Unfortunately, this is where the cool factor ends for this weapon. The only notable perk is gradual solar slug strength increases as you use it. This gun does not have much stability, and none of the perks point to a decrease in recoil, so this thing will likely be firing everywhere but the intended target. However, it is entirely understandable if you want to use it at least one time for the reasons cited in the first sentence of this point. Have at it!

3 Dead In The Water Deadpan

via destiny.wikia.com

This may be one of the most imbalanced guns on the list. The Deadpan Delivery is a legendary shotgun and has one of the highest impacts seen, but range and stability are insanely small in comparison. This type of gun makes you think about what the thought behind a weapon like this was. When would this be useful? If range and stability were at the same level as impact, this would be the most powerful shotgun in the game, but I guess the masses cannot be trusted with that kind of power. So, you are left with insane impact without the guarantee that it will hit anything. What a shame! You will create the boom, but it probably will not reach the target. It also has one of the lowest RPMs in the subclass.

2 Swing Speed Slower Than A Tortoise

via destiny.wikia.com

This list has been dedicated to guns and armor, but it is important not to forget there are swords available. Therefore, we need to delve into some you need to pass on. The Crown Splitter is a legendary sword for the Titan class. It has high impact, and decent range, but the swing speed is so slow none of that matters. Imagine finding the most powerful sword ever, but the thing is so heavy you can barely pick it up to use it. This is like that, and it is a shame since the impact is insanely high. However, you will be taken out before you have the chance to follow through. It is hard to think of a situation where this would even be useful.

1 A Variable Experience

via d2.destinygamewiki.com

Yes, another rocket launcher has made this list. Come on Bungie! The MOS Epoch III is a legendary rocket launcher. Its velocity is otherworldly, but the handling and stability are nowhere near where they should be for this type of weapon. One of the most frustrating things is when you have purchased a weapon that is ineffective. What good is speed if it cannot hit the intended target or is missing at least moderate stability? Some perks increase handling and stability, but is it enough to balance out velocity? If the lower level characteristics are at least half of the largest one, then a perk could create more of a synergy. This one is too variable, and there is no guarantee the perks will be enough to make up for it.
