Get ready, samurai-in-training - we'll hear more about Ghost of Tsushima when the review embargo lifts on July 14th at 7:00 AM PST.

Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS developer Sucker Punch have been working on this Japanese open-world adventure. Ghost of Tsushima, and it has been almost six years since the release of their last game, inFAMOUS: First Light. Reviewers will likely be playing relatively soon or have been playing the game, since the game went gold earlier this week.

Ghost of Tsushima takes place during the Feudal Era, starting in 1274. Khotun Khan and the Mongol Empire first invade Tsushima in a pursuit to take over the entirety of Japan. Jin Sakai is the protagonist in their way as he attempts to retrieve his homeland back from the ravaging empire and defend mainland Japan. Inside, Jin faces an internal struggle of sticking to the old ways of the Samurai, who failed to fight back the Mongols, or take on the role of the ghost. If the title is anything to go by, he sticks to the latter. Let's hope the storyline is reviewed well when the scores begin to come in for OpenCritic and Metacritic.

This game encourages exploration. Nate Fox, Ghost of Tsushima's game director, spoke to Press Start Australia, and said, "If you really want the full diversity of possibilities, you have to explore." Also, if you just cut straight to the main missions, you may also miss out on quests and storylines that Sucker Punch has laid out for explorative players. So everyone, take your time and wander around to your hearts' content!

How a development team based in Seattle created such an authentic Japanese look is simply incredible. The cherry blossoms and the grass fields look gorgeous, the stance system from the combat seems accurate, and the way the main protagonist interacts with nature and the environment is unique in the crowded open-world space. The game has a world that is waiting to be explored by fans of the action-adventure genre.

Ghost of Tsushima will likely be the PS4's swansong with its beautiful graphics, big open world, and hopefully impactful story. The most concerning element of Ghost of Tsushima right now is the main character, Jin Sakai, who doesn't seem to have much of a personality from the trailers we've seen so far. Perhaps, the development of the character, as he learns to be a ghost, will be effective as we play the game. Let's not have a Connor from Assassin's Creed 3, please!
