Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is still making waves amongst fans 17 years after its release. It turns out people want a remake of the iconic series' fifth instalment more than any other game out there, according to a recent online survey by mobile phone recycling company Mazuma Mobile.

This is a pretty impressive finding, especially considering a good 400 games were analyzed in total by Mazuma Mobile in this particular survey. But it's also not that surprising; we all know that San Andreas is a legend in the gaming community.

In response to the results they found, Mazuma Mobile highlighted just some of the reasons which keep San Andreas at the very front of many people's minds even after all these years:

“The analysis reveals that GTA: San Andreas ranked top of the wanted remake list. The game released back in 2004 is still as popular, with its clever story line, vast mapped area and with the graphics being some of the best of its time, this video game lives in an area of nostalgia for great video gaming that is still thriving even in 2021.”

The results were deduced according to annual Google search volumes accumulated per game. Here is the list of the top ten games desperately in need of modern remakes, according to Mazuma Mobile's participants:

  1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (23.5m annual searches)
  2. Bully (19.1m annual searches)
  3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (10.5m annual searches)
  4. Half-Life (4.9m annual searches)
  5. Tekken 3 (4.6m annual searches)
  6. Grand Theft Auto IV (4,212,000 annual searches)
  7. Super Mario World  (3,857,000 annual searches)
  8. Left 4 Dead 2 (3,205,000 annual searches)
  9. Grand Theft Auto III (2,892,000 annual searches)
  10. Left 4 Dead (2,818,000 annual searches)

You'll notice that San Andreas isn't exactly the only GTA game present on this top ten list either. In fact, half of the titles here belong to Rockstar Games, including 2006's Bully sitting at number two on the list. They clearly must be doing something right.
