If friendship is magic, then would a group of friends getting together be Magic: The Gathering? Wizards of the Coast sure seems to think so, as they have introduced Ponies: The Galloping, a limited edition set of My Little Pony-themed cards for the Magic: The Gathering card game.

The three cards will feature fashionista unicorn Rarity, the princess of friendship Twilight Sparkle, and both princesses Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna on a double-sided card.

The cards, which will be sold on HasbroPulse.com, cost $50 per set. For each set sold, Wizards of the Coast will donate $30 to the charity "Extra Life," a gamer-centric charity that benefits the Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

Magic: The Gathering players worried about how these cards will affect the meta needn't fret, since these are silver-bordered cards, which means they're not allowed in tournament play. Of course, anyone who reads the ponies' abilities would immediately realize they're not meant to be played -- they describe using non-MTG cards as part of play, gaining resistances based on the colors of a my little pony toy you own, and a condition that you can meet to allow everyone to win the game!

As far as products go that you actually can use in a game, Wizards of the Coast will also be selling Ponies: The Galloping playmat sets -- a three-pack of playmats that feature the same artwork as the limited-edition cards. The playmat set costs $100 dollars, and Wizards of the Coast will donate $80 to Children's Miracle Network for every set sold.

Both the playmats and the cards will only be on sale from October 22 until November 5.

For those who want to take part in helping Wizards of the Coast raise money for Extra Life, but for some reason aren't heavily invested in the lore of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, there's still a few options available. WotC will be auctioning off uncut sheets on Ebay on October 23 and November 2, and they will be hosting two in-house streams on twitch.tv/magic on October 28 and November 2.
