Coming out of left-wing, this unusual humanoid Pokémon made its name being the villain of the 7th generation of Pokémon. The Sun & Moon games were littered with intermittent battles that kept trainers on their toes throughout. While the main plot was building through several storylines, the Necrozma battle was always something to get through.

Unique because Pokémon are usually trying to protect their home or being used by one of the many organizations we've seen throughout the years, Necrozma has a personal grudge against humans that it's not going to give up on easily. With some of the best stats in the series, trainers had better get their team straight before challenging the scorned Pokémon.

10 Unknown Origins

Neither the anime or the games are entirely clear on where the legendary Pokémon originates. Finding him deep underground is how it's said it was discovered this time around, but the strange creature looks like nothing from this planet.

Especially with its odd abilities and abstract nature, Necrozma brings a whole new set of rules to the table. Fans have had some strange looking Pokémon float through their Pokédexs a few times, but the information on Necrozma is unreliable at best.

9 Light As It's Energy Source

One of the clearest pieces of information we have is that it uses light as energy. More than likely the reason its body is jet black in the original form, absorbing as much light as possible.

Seemingly made out of prisms, almost all of the unique attacks it possesses are light-based. With beams and lasers shooting around the place its no wonder people are left scratching their heads.

8 Prime Number Stats

While we can clearly see that Necrozma has some form consciousness, the rest of the being seems inanimate. From the crystals that make up its entire body right down to the statistics that reflect its power, Necrozma's the farthest thing from biological.

Every new move that the legend acquires by level up is a prime number. This includes every single one of its base stats, meaning you'll have to brush up on your math skills if you want to master the Pokémon.

7 Possession Of Other Pokémon

Unlike the Mega Evolutions that temporarily boosts a Pokémon's fighting power, Necrozma forces a combination of two Pokémon. Solgaleo and Lunala are the two Pokémon unlucky enough to fit the bill.

Each transformation is a takeover and powerup of the body, either into Dusk Mane or Dawn Wing form. Its Ultra Burst form is reserved only when it has drained enough energy from either Pokémon and can finally use its true form for short periods.

6 From The Bottom To The Top

The difference that Necrozma's catch rate goes through in the span of 2 games is dramatic. Scaling from the hardest to catch of any Pokémon in the Sun & Moon games to the highest of the entire roster next time around.

Tying Eternatus for the highest catch rate, a Pokémon that literally spawns a Poké Ball in the trainer's bag if they forgot. It's almost definitely for the storyline, but at least make it a bit of a challenge.

5 Beast Or Not

The Ultra Beasts made their appearance in generation 7, literally flying through a wormhole to make their debut. Looking even more strange than some of the wonky designs we've had in this Pokémon dimension, there are 11 known Ultra Beasts and counting.

Necrozma goes back and forth on the Ultra Beast scale with different outlets flip-flopping back and forth. In the core series and Pokémon Home it isn't considered such, whereas the anime, manga and Pokemon Duel have all said otherwise.

4 More Fights Than Most

Being the only true antagonist Pokémon in the series is sure to up its fight time, with Necrozma coming in at 3 total for the Sun and Moon series. Even stranger is the fact that you cannot catch the Pokémon in any stage except the last.

A clear plot shield to progress the story when its final form is ready to be captured, the battle suddenly turns up the heat. With Necrozma's true form being unleashed, the final battle turns into one of the hardest bosses in series history.

3 The Most Powerful

For the longest time now series fans have considered Arceus the most powerful Pokémon in existence and for good reason. The previous leader is thought to have created the universe with its 1000 arms and is the trio master for 2 separate legendary chains.

Necrozma looks at those stats and ups it 34 points overall, Still need more proof it's not from this world? This is when it's in final form so it takes a while to get there, but Arceus has 720 points in its back pocket. The fact that Necrozma could ever pass the creator of the universe is insane.

2 The Tallest Of The Lot

Ultra Necrozma really destroys the record in this type, towering over most of the other Psychic types in the game. It's normal form coming in at a reasonable 7' 10'', the difference in the body is enormous as it morphs through the different versions.

Ultra Necrozma being a Dragon-type does up its size expectation quite a bit. With a high percentage of the biggest Pokémon in the game falling into that type, the 24' 7'' frame of the beast is only beaten by the top 10 biggest in the Pokédex.

1 Twisted Revenge

While every player met Necrozma as this angry pokémon out for revenge, it didn't start out that way. In fact, Necrozma was spreading light throughout the universe and got the nickname ''The Blinding One.'' Until the city of Ultra Megalopolis got a hold of it, draining its light and permanently disabling the Pokémon.

This turns it into a light hungry monster that is desperately trying to gather its lost light back. Eventually pushed back by the legendary combo, the events of Sun & Moon then awaken the beast from its subterranean slumber.
