This week, we take a break from our usual Skyrim highlights and cease and desist announcements to shine a light on some titles we don’t cover as much. With impressive showings in the Star Wars: Battlefront and Resident Evil communities, it’s been a good week for players that enjoy huge mods that completely overhaul the game. And thanks to the modding community we also see the return of a previously cut Mass Effect DLC, which was thought to be lost to time.

Modders Working To Bring Resident Evil 2 And 3 Remake To VR

Resident Evil 4 is once again getting all the love. Its VR re-release is proving to be a hit, but has fans wondering what other titles in the series could be like if you made them even more bloody terrifying. Modders are working on VR releases of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, just in case the horror wasn’t already immersive enough for you. They’ve put together a video of their progress, so you can watch someone try and play through the games with motion controls.

New Mod Adds 8K Resolution To Star Wars: Battlefront

Star Wars: Battlefront hasn’t made it onto our weekly round-ups before, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a community that cares about it. Six years on from its launch, a modder known as Massihancer has given it a total 8k revamp, in a project which he tells us took up a lot of his spare time. If you want to play the best looking Star Wars: Battlefront game on the market, but want to avoid the controversial sequel, this is your best bet.

Shoot Your Way Through Lordran With New Dark Souls Mod That Adds Halo Guns

Ever found yourself playing Dark Souls and thought, “wow, this would be a lot easier if I had a gun!” Well, rest easy, as modders have come to the rescue. Thanks to this recent creation, you can now play through the notoriously difficult game with a selection of weapons from Halo. Stuck on a boss? Just shoot your way through it! At least you get the benefit of range. You can check it out in action for yourself, in a video fittingly titled: Dark Souls Except It's Incredibly Cursed.

Missing DLC Pinnacle Station For Mass Effect Legendary Edition Added By Modders

Due to some lost source code, the Pinnacle Station DLC didn’t make it into Mass Effect Legendary Edition. However, thanks to months of hard work from modders, the content is once again playable on PC. Given the sheer amount of effort put into this port - which also includes bug fixes - it’s unsurprising that it didn’t fit into Legendary Edition’s development. According to BioWare's Mac Walters, it would have added six months onto the workload. It’s even more amazing then, that fans got it done less than a year after launch.
