In the recent Journey's End update, Re-Logic added over 1000 new items to their beloved game Terraria. Some of these items are obvious total game changers, while others are often overlooked.

Then there are those that no one knows much about because they're so rare, despite existing in the game from the very beginning. Read on to find out exactly how to get these ultra-rare drops, and why they're worth the grind. For now, we will avoid items exclusively found in Goodie Bags, which only spawn in Mastermode.

10 Magical Pumpkin Seed

Terraria Pumpkin Patch Player Armor

When October rolls around in the real world, players can expect their Terraria game to follow suit and begin the Hallowe'en event. During this time (differs depending on platform) pumpkins sprout randomly on all grass, enemies get fun costumes, and slimes can grow bunny parts. There's also a 0.5 percent chance to harvest a new friend called the Squashling.

When the player uses a tool to destroy a fully grown pumpkin they will usually gather up to ten pumpkins, but during this event a Magical Pumpkin Seed can also be dropped from the plant. Equipping it will summon a walking pumpkin with a mischievous smile carved into its head. What a sweetie!

9 Reindeer Bells

Terraria Reindeer Bell Summon Mount

Another seasonal event that occurs in-game is the Frost moon fight. This is different from the previous entry as it is a player-controlled occurrence, beginning when the player uses a Naughty Present. The fight comes in waves up to 20, getting progressively more challenging with greater numbers of enemies. At wave 15 a boss called the Ice Queen has a 0.56 percent chance to drop Reindeer Bells.

She will spawn from wave eleven onwards, so the player will have to defeat her at least four times before being in with the chance of looting this item.

When equipped the player can summon a ridable reindeer mount to match the Frost moon aesthetic. Of course, Rudolph has a shiny nose that produces a small pool of light, and while not able to fly, can run and jump very high. A rare but worthwhile drop to aim for.

8 Nymph Banner

Terraria Nymph Lost Girl Caves Underground

For some players, banners are the bane of their playthrough. They clutter the inventory and look ugly if you try to use them for decoration, and for enemies like Slimes it's very easy to rack up their numbers quickly. But how often do you come across Lost Girls in the dark caverns below? They don't move around much, so can be difficult to spot, even with a Lifeform Analyzer. As soon as they spot you though, you'll realize it's not an innocent little girl, but a vicious Nymph.

To get the Nymph Banner the player will have to kill at least 50 Nymphs, which means finding 50 Lost Girls and taking them out before they can reach you. The odds of this happening are so small that once you find this drop it might be worth hanging onto.

7 Blessed Apple

Terraria Blessed Apple Summon Unicorn Mount Inventory

If Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer isn't a magical enough stead for you, try a literal unicorn. Unicorns spawn throughout the Hallowed biome as enemies, often charging towards the player and ramming with their fabulous horn. For each rare and mystical unicorn brutally murdered there is a 2.5 percent chance for the Blessed Apple to drop.

Equipping this in the mount section summons a blue, white, and purple unicorn under the player, and when running at full speed (51-61mph) can damage enemies for 60HP and deal 10 knockback. With a little magic dust the Unicorn mount can even double jump midair.

6 Rod of Discord

Terraria Rod of Discord Chaos Elemental

Once the player reaches Hardmode and the Hallow begins to spread, other enemies endemic to this biome will begin to spawn. Along with unicorns there can be found Illuminant Bats, Slimes, and Chaos Elementals underground. These weird, pink men bounce around the screen, teleporting as close to the player as they can get. Veteran Terrarians will know the torment that comes with farming these mobs for the Rod of Discord.

Wielding this staff costs no Mana or ammo, but will siphon 1/7th of the player's max health with each use, and provides them with the power of the Chaos Elemental. Its uses are limited only to the health available to the player, enabling teleportation to wherever the cursor is positioned on screen. Don't get any ideas about jumping into the Jungle Temple before defeating Plantera though, the game is way ahead of you there.

5 Biome Keys

Terraria Biome Keys Dungeon Jungle Chest

If you've made it past Skeletron and into the Dungeon, then you might have come across these brightly colored, unique looking chests. They may be tempting, but unfortunately opening them is going to take a lot of luck.

Once the Wall of Flesh has been defeated there is a miniscule chance, 0.04 percent, to find one of five keys; Desert, Jungle, Hallowed, Frozen, and Corruption/Crimson. They can drop from any mob within one of these six biomes, as long as that enemy drops coins (this list explains which statues can help with farming keys). It doesn't need to be exclusive to the biome, and mobs in overlapping biomes have the same chance to drop either key.

Each Biome Chest has an exclusive weapon as well as the usual loot table for dungeon chests.

4 Lucky Coin

Terraria Lucky Coin Guarding Accessory Pirate Invasion

If you thought finding all the Biome Keys would be difficult because of the 0.04 percent drop rate, try a Lucky Coin, which can also have the Lucky modifier. Firstly, these are only dropped during Pirate Raids, which are pretty rare. Secondly, for one of the mini-boss Pirate Captains to drop this accessory is a 0.1 percent chance, or for the incredibly tanky Flying Dutchman it's a slightly better rate of 0.5 percent, but good luck destroying enough of those.

Every Pirate has a chance to drop one, but it's so ridiculously small, 0.025 percent, it's almost not worth trying. Almost. Because when equipped in any Accessory slot this increases the likelihood of extra money being dropped by every mob by up to 89 percent, every time. If you're looking to cheese luck then try the World Seed "Celebrationmk10", where you can buy this accessory straight from the Princess after defeating the Pirates once.

3 Coin Gun

Terraria Coin Gun Platinum Coins

With all that extra money the Lucky Coin gets you, why not try for the Coin Gun too? This weapon uses, you guessed it, coins as ammunition, with the larger denominations causing the most harm. And again, you'll need Pirates for this item, a whole bunch of them, as the drop rate is now down to 0.0125 percent. Pirate Captains and the Flying Dutchman have better odds of dropping the good loot, 0.05 percent and 0.25 percent respectively.

If you're in a multiplayer world with PvP, and you manage to get a Coin Gun from a Pirate Invasion, you might have just won the entire server.

2 Discount Card

Terraria Discount Card Angry Accessory Inventory

The final Pirate Invasion money item is the Discount Card. This crew is clearly very wealthy, as everything they drop provides them with the funds to make more of their solid gold furniture. When equipped, all NPC merchants lower their prices by 20 percent, including reforging with the Goblin Tinkerer. This does not affect the money you gain when selling, or the Nurse's prices to heal you.

If you'd like to save some precious accessory slots you can combine the Lucky Coin, the Gold Ring (also dropped by Pirates) and the Discount Card to make the Greedy Ring. This is the ultimate Scrooge McDuck item, beware of becoming the next Tax Collector.

1 Slime Staff

Terraria Slime Staff Ice Cavern Inventory

Finally, we come to the Slime Staff. This is the least likely loot in the list, despite it being almost useless. Since the 1.4 update, the Summoner class has been expanded upon immensely, providing players a host of new things to fight for them. A pre-Hardmode weapon from the 1.03 update is a tiny Baby Slime that does only 6 damage. It's very rare at only a 0.01 percent drop rate, but it's also so terribly cute that players grind for hours to farm Slimes in an attempt to have their own squishy pet.

Statues and lava can help speed up the process, and keep a lookout for Pinky, the bright pink Slime which drops this Staff one percent of the time. Killing it will also grant the 'Pretty in Pink' achievement.
