100 Thieves has officially returned to professional Counter-Strike with the signing of the former Renegades roster. CEO Matthew “nadeshot” Haag revealed the organization’s plans to reenter the game a few months ago. The American esports organization sponsors teams in a number of popular esports titles, including League of Legends and Fortnite.

100 Thieves was founded by former professional Call of Duty player Matthew "nadeshot" Haag in 2016. Originally created as an esports lifestyle brand, the company became a competitive esports organization in 2018 after receiving millions in funding from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert the year prior. The 100 Thieves brand debuted their first professional League of Legends roster in the 2018 Spring LCS season.

During that same time, the organization took a risk in picking up the former Immortals CS:GO lineup. The Brazilian roster had just been released from their previous organization after multiple scandals and controversies began to damage their reputation. 100 Thieves’ first venture into CS:GO ended abruptly after visa and travel issues prevented the team from attending the Eleague Boston Major in January of 2018. The roster was released shortly after, without ever having played a match under the 100 Thieves name.

100 Thieves now rejoins the professional Counter-Strike scene, picking up the ex-Renegades lineup. The Australian team has made top placings in multiple premier events throughout 2019, making this one of the most successful years in the team’s history. This roster came together in late 2018 with the additions of Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai and Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas. In March of 2019, the roster made their first ever Major quarter-final appearance at IEM Katowice. They later beat their Major record with a semi-final finish at the StarLadder Berlin Major in September. The lineup also made top-four finishes at both StarSeries i-League Seasons 7 and 8. Star rifler Justin “jks” Savage has accrued a 1.14 rating for big events in 2019, placing him in the top ten players of this year.

The roster will make their official debut under the 100 Thieves banner at IEM Beijing on November 7th, 2019. The team received an invite to the event after mousesports withdrew earlier this week. The $250,000 tournament will see 100 Thieves take on world number one Evil Geniuses, along with top-five teams Astralis and Vitality.
