So remember that Anthem redesign that was mentioned a while ago? There are just 30 people working on it.

Last February, BioWare boss Casey Hudson broke the news that new Anthem content was being placed on hold as the developer redesigns Anthem from top to bottom. Called “Anthem 2.0,” Hudson said that they were devoting a "focused team the time to test and iterate, focusing on gameplay first.” Seasonal updates would be placed on hold as that team did their work.

Three months later, we have some news on just how big a team BioWare has devoted to their baby. Apparently, it’s just a “small team” of “about 30-ish” developers that will perform the monumental task of redesigning Anthem.

An update on BioWare’s website revealed that Austin office GM Christian Dailey is in charge of that team (although he’s working at home, just as everyone else is). In his introduction, Dailey said he was confident that he could get Anthem to a good spot, but to not expect anything soon.

"We are a small team – about 30-ish, earning our way forward as we set out to hit our first major milestone goals,” Dailey said. “Spoiler – this is going to be a longer process. And yes, the team is small but the whole point of this is to take our time and go back to the drawing board. And a small team gives us the agility a larger one can’t afford."

Although Anthem is perhaps the biggest flop in gaming history, EA has said that they weren’t going to completely abandon BioWare’s looter shooter despite being a complete dumpster fire from day one. Not abandoning apparently doesn’t mean devoting too much in terms of resources to the Anthem problem either.

We'll check back in six months and see how Anthem is coming along. We wouldn't expect anything sooner than that.
