The upcoming 4.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be adding new content to the game in the form of a Dragon Quest character, but new modes and options will also be added.

Masahiro Sakurai held a livestream to promote the impending release of Hero, who is going to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the 4.0.0 update. Hero is being added to the game today (or tomorrow in certain regions, such as the UK), which means that the new content will be dropping soon.

According to Sakurai, one of the biggest changes to the gameplay of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the next update will be a timer to the Final Smash meter in games where that is used. When the meter is fully charged, it will only remain active for a short period of time, which the player can measure from its icon moving in reverse. The player will now have a limited window of time in which to use the Final Smash when it's charged through the meter.

The World of Light mode will be adding a Very Easy difficulty, for those who are struggling to complete it. Those who spectate on matches can now bet on the winner and earn points that they can spend in the shop if they choose correctly. The player isn't risking any of their own points in the betting process, so there is no reason not to put your Super Smash Bros. analytical skills to the test.

The biggest new addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an online tournament mode. The rules of the tournament are preset, but they change over time. There will also be special tournaments held as part of events, but the details of these were not specified.

There are also new additions to the video editing mode. It will be possible for players to add screenshots to videos and they can consecutively play videos that have been added to Shared Content.

A lot of new content is coming in the 4.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but there is still the important question of the changes made to individual characters, which we will know more about tomorrow.
