A Destiny 2 player is already at Season Rank 600 and on a quest to reach Power Level 999.

Most Destiny 2 players know that there is a hard level cap of 961 after the introduction of Shadowkeep, but that only has to do with your gear. The new seasonal artifact, The Gate Lord’s Eye, provides players with bonus Power Level based on their XP. The more experience you gain from defeating enemies and completing quests/bounties, the more bonus levels you get from the artifact.

Presumably, the artifact’s bonus levels disappear once the season end, but so far it seems to be the easiest and most efficient way to gain Power Level in Destiny 2. Pinnacle Rewards will only provide +1 to your drops after reaching 950, and there are so few sources that most players believe that even grinding them out every week won’t let players hit 961 by the end of the season.

Destiny 2 streamer Zupah has taken that info to heart and focused on boosting his artifact Power Level, and it seems to be working. He’s already at seasonal rank 600 and at a total Power Level of 984. He boasted on Saturday that he gained 100 ranks in just two days, which must have required an insane amount of grinding XP.

In case you were wondering how he did it, Zupah recommends grinding out Eris bounties on the Moon. They’re repeatable, and you can combine Nightmare Hunts and Vex Offensive with Moon bounties to double or even triple your experience gain.

But why grind out all these levels? Well, besides making Master Nightmare Hunts easier, Zupah plans to challenge The Shattered Throne raid alone in order to confirm a piece of lore from the Dreaming City. It’s called “Truth To Power”, and Byf here provides a detailed explanation in his video.

It can be summarized in a single sentence: "Achieve Light Level 999 and defeat Du Incaru in a one-person fireteam to unlock the true ending of the Dreaming City." Which is exactly what Zupah is doing.

After reaching Power Level 999, Zupah will take on the Shattered Throne alone. Even with the level advantage, it likely won’t be easy, but it might reveal some hidden lore that was added with Shadowkeep. Or it might do nothing--Truth to Power is supposed to be a sort of a joke entry. Zupah will find out one way or another.
