In the age of social distancing, long-distance relationships are becoming the norm. I personally know two close friends who are just starting out in relationships, but having to learn the long-distance ropes very early on. It sucks! But hopefully, A Fold Apart will teach us all how to navigate love in this bold new world we're living in.

For those not in the know, A Fold Apart is a game that centers on two characters living in a long distance relationship. Told through a charming and unique art style reminiscent of Tearaway, this puzzle game lets two players work together to navigate the perils and pitfalls of loving from afar.

Of course, A Fold Apart plays very differently in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic - a fact that hasn't escaped the game's creator, Mark Laframboise.

"When we first started developing A Fold Apart in 2015, my goal was to tell a touching story about the romantic, sentimental, but fundamentally lonely feelings that my significant other and I experienced while living apart," says Laframboise in a press release. "We never would have imagined that we’d be releasing the game in an environment where nearly all of us around the world are physically separated from loved ones and experiencing that loneliness firsthand."

Laframboise went on to say that he hopes the game can be a comfort in these trying times. With any luck, he's right on the money - A Fold Apart looks like a charming little thing, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

And we won't have to wait long! Featuring more than 50 unique puzzles and customizable gender options, the game will debut on April 17. It'll be coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade.
