Siblings Robert Marriner-Dodds and Cassandra Dodds are creating Studio Ghibli inspired role playing games.

Robert runs Dragon Turtle Games, the publisher behind Carbon 2185, the cyberpunk role playing game. The new sibling run company, Studio Cerca, will focus on creating kid-friendly table top RPGs, much like Dungeons and Dragons. This won’t be their first time delving into fantasy table tops, the duo has also designed a series for D&D 5e, Dragon Drop.

The Studio Cerca games will be heavily influenced by the works and style of the legendary Japanese animator and Studio Ghibli co-founder, Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki, the genius who brought the world films like Spirited Away and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, has always inspired the campaigns created by Robert and Cassandra. The goal of Studio Cerca is creating role playing games for the whole family, something that has always had a special place in the hearts of this sibling startup.

There is still a lot about the new project that is unknown, most everything other than the company name and influences. Some studio art has been released as well as a logo, both of which look like the joint venture will make good on their promise to create a fantasy scape that is oh-so-Ghibli. The company and campaign are still in the Kickstarter phase, interested gamers can sign up for their newsletter at the official Studio Cerca website.

This new project is shaping up to be the crowd pleasing intersection for fans of Studio Ghibli and table top role playing alike.
