A new Dragon Ball Super movie has been confirmed for next year. Anime is on a bit of a high at the moment, with the likes of Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and others making waves. However, it’s been a few years since the last Dragon Ball Super dropped and over two years since Dragon Ball Super: Broly premiered in the United States.

There was hope among fans with regards to a new anime continuation outlining Goku’s adventures alongside other popular characters. That never came to fruition, but it certainly appears we will see a new movie launch in 2022.

Some Twitter activity set tongues wagging on Friday, and with very good reason. A tweet pointing to Toei Animation’s publication from two days ago has given lots of credence to the suspicion with claims that the company will make an official announcement on May 9, two days from now.

Given this came from the official website, there’s no reason not to expect a major announcement on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Ball Super manga is still going strong and has been bringing new villains to the fore, as well as the development of Goku and Vegeta’s powers. Goku is well on his way to full mastery of the Ultra Instinct, the result of his training with Whis. Vegeta, on the other hand, is moving closer to becoming a Destroyer God.

The above storylines make for an exciting anime film and we imagine fans are very excited. Actually, we don’t have to imagine as the reactions on social media are pretty great. The COVID-19 pandemic just may have forced Toei to push the movie back as it might have come out this year instead of 2022.

In any case, the ninth is just around the corner so there could be a lot more information out there by then.
