Another trailer for sci-fi horror game Quantum Error was shown during Gamescom 2020.

Quantum Error is set in the Monad Quantum Research Facility, which is located miles from the California shore. The facility is attacked by an unknown assailant and it bursts into flames. A distress signal is sent out and a team of firefighters are dispatched by helicopter to save everyone in the facility. What quickly starts out as a rescue mission turns into a desperate battle for survival, as horrific monsters now control the building and they stalk every corridor in search of flesh.

Gamescom 2020 has just begun and it opened with a pre-show filled with trailers and reveals. A new trailer was released for Quantum Error, which has now been uploaded to the GamesPrey YouTube channel. The footage is of the alpha version of the game, which means that it's still in the early stages of development.

The new trailer for Quantum Error showcased the protagonist gunning down zombies with a minigun, as well as ghostly apparations walking around the research facility. The trailer makes it clear that there is a focus on using firefighting equipment to bypass environmental hazards, which will work alongside the heavy artillery that the protagonist uses to dispatch enemies.

The player will also use heat vision sensors to detect enemies within dark environments. The story hints in the trailer suggest that the facility contained some sort of mystical artifact that opened the gate to alien worlds, some of which contain Lovecraftian horrors, as hinted by the tentacle reflection shown during the scene where the island is shown in full.

The firefighter twist is an interesting idea, as the protagonist won't be a standard cookie-cutter soldier who barges in to fight monsters. Whether Quantum Error manages to be compelling in other areas still remains to be seen, since it's concept has been done a lot of times before. The footage that has been released so far has piqued our interest, and we can't wait to see how the game looks when it's further along in development.
