A Plague Tale: Requiem is the follow-up to its predecessor, A Plague Tale: Innocence. A story of Amicia and her little brother Hugo as they travel to safety from people who are hunting them in a region struck by a deadly plague. While they try to survive, it will also grow their relationship and any allies they come across.

Plenty of games are like Requiem for fans. It might be because some games strike the same formula of stealth-focused gameplay with some combat to a gripping story that examines relationships. Either way, if you liked Innocence or Requiem, there is something out there that will satisfy you once you wrap up those games.

7 The Last of Us

Plague Tale Requiem Games Like The Last Of Us Joel and Ellie

While you can argue to play Left Behind and Part II, the first installment of The Last of Us is closest to Plague Tale. You have two people going through a hostile territory stricken by a sickness. Instead of a brother and sister relationship, this focused on a father-daughter bond that Joel and Ellie form as they start from bitterness to sweetness, with a sprinkling of morbid tones due to the finale.

The gameplay feels different, but there are similarities. Naughty Dog's action-adventure experience can be played head-on, but it is focused on stealth. Sneak up to catch enemies off guard or stealthily stab a Clicker with a shiv.

6 BioShock Infinite

The third BioShock has its fans and people who did not vibe with it. A drastic turn from its horror roots, Infinite goes to the sky of the colorful city of Columbia. It takes a more action-oriented approach, but if you like the first-person genre, you should be ready for the ride.

The game follows Booker as he is tasked to find a mysterious woman named Elizabeth in the city. As he tries to save her and develops this relationship with her, he uncovers the dark facade that darkens its bright colors.

5 God Of War

2018's God of War also saw a turn of a series. With so many changes, from the camera to the gameplay, it brought a new dimension to Kratos, who went from an angry, one-note flagship character for PlayStation to a sympathetic character.

The story introduces us to Kratos' son, Atreus. The two go on a journey to spread the boy's mother's ashes on the highest point of the land. The Norse gods are not fond of the Greek god of war, leading to challenges from those who stand in their way.

4 A Way Out

Having two protagonists opens up the opportunity for a co-op experience. A Way Out lets two players pick between two prisoners, Leo and Vincent. The two go from strangers to partners in breaking out of prison, with both having their motivations — some of which are spoken, and others not.

Players go through a series of challenges that require timing and coordination. One might be distracting guards while the other prepares a way to get to the next stage of the plan for freedom. It also offers fun things for you two to do if discovered, like playing Connect Four.

3 Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Plague Tale Requiem Games Like Uncharted Lost Legacy Chloe Nadine

Uncharted is typically a solo adventure with Nathan Drake, with a few people in his life accompanying him briefly. Lost Legacy takes the focus between Nadine Ross and Chloe Frazer. In traditional fashion for the series, the two are on the hunt for an ancient artifact and keep it away from wrongful hands.

The systems developed for Uncharted 4 were evolved, particularly to fit Chloe, so she is different from Nathan. It delivers a bite-sized Uncharted experience that feels different enough to warrant it being a standalone adventure while being shorter, similarly to an expanded version of The Last of Us: Left Behind.

2 Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Senua from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is one of the most mature single-player experiences in gaming. It's a Norse mythology-themed story that wraps itself around a core of grief and mental illness, and is thoughtfully written and acted.

The gameplay balances combat and puzzles, but that is not what is memorable. What Ninja Theory did that felt innovative was its immersive audio. As Senua has psychosis, you constantly hear voices throughout her journey into Hel. When wearing headphones, those voices trap you as they talk to you or themselves. It puts you into the shoes of the heroine, unlike anything else.

1 Firewatch

A Plague Tale Requiem Firewatch forest

If you are open to a gameplay-light indie game that leans all in on its story and leaves its gameplay in the backdrop, then Firewatch is for you. It takes an emotional story between a man and a woman who never meet but only talk through their radios as they are on fire watch in Wyoming. A mystery overtakes this relationship develops between these colleagues.

Much of your time is spent walking while listening to the characters' conversations. To make up for all that walking, the art style and setting create a serene environment to enjoy. It shows that you don't need realistic graphics to make you feel like you are in a real-life setting as you get to see the beauty of 1989 Wyoming with a stylish art style by a modestly sized team.
