One of the harder aspects of Assassin's Creed Valhalla involves defeating a variety of legendary animals of various power levels who are scattered across the map. These beasts can then be taken to Wallace at the Hunter's Hut in your settlement and the trophies will be displayed in the longhouse. Some are more difficult to defeat than others, but all of them are able to be taken down by using the right style of combat.

There are 11 legendary animals you will come across within the game, and you should know where you can find them, and the best way to defeat them. These are some of the more difficult foes to defeat in Assassin's Creed Valhalla so make sure your power level is high enough before taking them on.

Updated on May 29, 2021 by Rebecca O’Neill: The addition of the DLC called Wrath of the Druids to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla brought about quite a few changes. It not only added Ireland to the map, but players also saw the addition of a new legendary animal called the Black Stout. This beast is as fearsome as it looks, although it's not the only thing you have to fear in this new land.

The Children of Danu must be dealt with as you will find out once you decide to take on this new storyline. However, if you don’t want to head to Ireland just yet, there are plenty of legendary animals back in England and Norway for you to deal with.

12 Black Stout

  • Power Level: 469

The Black Stout is a giant wild boar, and it is a hard beast to defeat due to its insanely high power level. This beast can be found in the northeast section of Connacht in Ireland and you will fight in a fenced-off swampy arena.

You should focus on using a ranged build with your best bow to hit its weak points on its legs, as one hit from its tusks could cause you to desynchronize. Once you manage to knock it down then you can swoop in to land a few heavy hits before playing the dance of death with your bow once again.

11 O Yan Do’ Ne

  • Power Level: None (recommended Power Level of 100-120)

The O Yan Do’ Ne is a giant moose that can be found in Vinland at a location called Loterio‘tatterton:ke, which is an area with a suggested power of zero. You should look to have both the bow and club in your inventory, as well as a few pieces of armor before taking on this opponent.

Its main attack is an unblockable charge followed by a spinning kick that will deal a ton of damage. The O Yan Do’ Ne can also kick dirt in your face to obscure your view and your best chance of success against this foe is to perform perfect dodges.

Some players prefer to use a ranged build against this animal, while others prefer adding poison or fire abilities to their best weapons in their build.

A few skills that are recommended are Brush with Death (to slow down time after a successful dodge) and Grit. This second skill is useful when the beast decides to tear into you after knocking you down as it will refill the red portion of your health bar when you perform successful melee hits.

It is slow, but one of its skills is the ability to project ice waves out from itself that will harm you, as well as straight lines of ice that you must dodgeHere is a complete guide on how to defeat it so you don't have to go through multiple desynchronizations.

The Beast of the Hills is the most difficult of the legendary animals to find as it is actually located underground and the entrance is in some ancient ruins. The bear can drink to heal itself, but it is quite slow which allows you to hit it from behind.

Things like poison and fire fare well against it and any overpowered build will work for this beast as speed is not an issue.

  • Power Level: 160

This hunt pits you against three wolves, and this trio can be found in Oxenefordscire. One thing to remember is that every time a wolf eats a corpse, it heals it, and you never want them to find a way behind you.

The build you have should allow you to be mobile as you will be dodging three attackers at once, so choose quick weapons and the best light armor. Your plan of attack should be to focus on one wolf at a time and use something like poison, fire, or even the Man's Best Friend ability to keep one occupied with your own wolf friend.

You will also want to equip Poison Strike or Fire Strike for your weapon to help drain its health as it runs around you during this fight.
