Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp finally has a release date. Originally intended to be released in the spring of 2022, Nintendo delayed its release indefinitely due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. However, listings appeared online several weeks ago that suggested a release was imminent. Today's Nintendo Director confirmed we won't have much longer to wait.

A remake of the original Advance Wars games for the Game Boy Advance, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a turn-based tactics game where you command soldiers and military hardware to take on opposing forces from rival nations. Expect the same characters, units, story, and largely the same maps as the original games, but redesigned from the ground up. Expect remade visuals for the Switch, new animations for units and commanding officers, and new features like four-player multiplayer in versus mode. And unlike the original, you'll be able to play the game online without having to pass your Game Boy around a table.

Other new features include weather effects, a new fast-forward button to speed up the animations and get you through the action a little faster, and brand-new animations where soldiers will ford rivers or shoot up or down from tiles of varying heights.

Pre-orders are available now on Nintendo's website as well as online retailers around the world. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp arrives April 21 only on the Nintendo Switch.
