Age Of Empires 3 was officially revealed at Gamescom 2020 with an explosive new trailer, featuring remastered gameplay. The game will officially launch on October 15.

The trailer reveals that in addition to enhanced graphics and audio (and redone cutscenes for the campaign), there are two new civilizations joining the fray: the Inca and the Swedes. We'll have to wait and see what makes these two factions unique. We'll also be getting new game modes, such as historical battles and challenge missions together called The Art Of War.

Age Of Empires 3 originally released in 2005. It advanced the formula of the first two AoE games in several ways: first, by updating the time period from the classical age or medieval age to the age of exploration; second, by switching from sprites to fully three-dimensional units, buildings, and maps; and third, by introducing a "home city" mechanic, whereby players could build unique "decks" and get special deliveries from the homeland.

The game was followed by two expansions: The WarChiefs, which introduced the Aztecs, Sioux, and Iroquois factions; and The Asian Dynasties, which introduced India, China, and Japan. Each faction brought twists to the original's gameplay.

Age Of Empires 3 Definitive Edition follows other successful remakes of the series, each of which is already included in Xbox Game Pass for PC. The game will also appear on Xbox Game Pass for PC, alongside Steam and the Microsoft Store.
