IO Interactive might have a stealth hit in January next year as Agent 47's actor, David Bateson, has called Hitman 3's script "so vast" and "in-depth."

This comes from an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine in the UK as cited by PSU. Bateson said the script felt like it was from Hollywood and compared it to a work by Chekhov. That's high praise, as the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov is considered one of the greatest short fiction writers in history. He also said he almost got intimidated from what the writers came up with, due to the ambition of the script.

Bateson said, "There’s some pretty shocking stuff going on, in a good sense, with Hitman 3."

The Hitman series isn't particularly known for its in-depth storyline, but Hitman 3 will be the final part of The World of Assassination narrative trilogy. In this game, Agent 47 will be taking on the most important and vital contracts of his career as he eliminates the partners of Providence. As the missions intensify, Agent 47, his handler Diana Burnwood, and his friend Lucas Grey, have to adapt to the harsh world around them. IO Interactive says that the world will never be the same again after the events of Hitman 3. Perhaps that's where the "shocking" element comes to play.

And you'll be able to experience this story in VR when January rolls around. All three titles in the trilogy will be compatible with PlayStation VR and you'll somehow be able to play the entirety of Agent 47's missions with a headset on. If VR isn't your forte, however, you won't need it to play Hitman 3.

In addition to the next-gen systems like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S, it will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. If you can't nab a PlayStation 5 like so many others, don't fret, because Hitman 3 will have a free upgrade from current to next-gen. If you don't know if your PC can run the game yet, don't worry either, as IO Interactive has already released the specs you'll need to play Hitman 3. Just be aware that it will be a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store.
