The actor Matthew Porretta seems to have revealed the launch date for upcoming game Alan Wake 2, saying that it'll be coming out in October. The American actor has appeared in the likes of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but among fans of Remedy Entertainment's games he is best known as the titular character of action thriller Alan Wake.

Porretta is back on voice duty for Alan Wake 2 and in a recent interview with the podcast Monsters, Madness and Magic, the actor let slip that the game is supposed to be coming out in October. A sequel to 2010's Alan Wake, which also saw a remastered version launched in 2021, Alan Wake 2 is known to be coming out for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S this year but without a more specific date as of yet.

Matthew Porretta was speaking to host Justin Young – who regularly interviews filmmakers, actors, musicians, and artists, among others – when the actor revealed when players might expect the game. "I've been working and will be working more on Alan Wake 2, I think it's supposed to be coming out in October but I don't know the exact time of that," Porretta said. You can hear it for yourself around the 26th to 27th minute mark in the below YouTube video:

It's known that Alan Wake 2 is very close to completion with a recent business briefing saying as much. "Alan Wake 2 is on its way to becoming a great game and has everyone excited at Remedy," it said. The document revealed that the game is in its last major phase of full production to ensure it's ready for launch later this year. Porretta's remarks would line up with the suggested schedule. In the same document, more was revealed about the future of the Control series and the Max Payne 1&2 remake as well.

Around the 17th minute mark of the above YouTube video, Justin Young comments to Porretta that Alan Wake happens to be among his favourite games, which lets the actor in on talking more about how he got involved with the game and his experience working with Remedy. Poretta says here too that the game is supposed to be coming out in October and that he's been active in the game's development, working in Finland where Remedy is based. "Amazing people," he says, remarking that it's been 13 years since he auditioned for the part. The actor also says his kids are fans of the game while Porretta is not the biggest gamer himself so his kids act as "translators".

While Remedy may not have set the official launch date yet, fans of Alan Wake should pencil in October for the launch of the upcoming sequel, going off by the person who plays the man himself.
