Those of you who loved Alien: Isolation, and there are a fair few who embraced the game, can get excited over some (tentative) news. The game could be getting a sequel.

According to sources cited by Insider Gaming, the Alien: Isolation sequel is either in development or is being pitched. Presumably, the developer of the first game Creative Assembly would be behind the follow-up but the studio did not respond for comment.

Alien: Isolation has performed fairly well for Sega, shifting more than two million copies as of March 2015 but it has been ported to more platforms since its release. Launching in October 2014, the game has been available for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360. It has also been ported to PC, Linux, and Mac. It arrived on Nintendo Switch in late 2019, and came to Android and iOS late 2021 (the iOS version, which we reviewed, was an excellent porting job by Feral Interactive).

Sources say that Sega was "extremely happy" with Alien: Isolation's reception, according to Insider Gaming, but Creative Assembly were occupied with work on the Total War franchise, which has seen mobile ports, and the new first-person shooter Hyenas. On Twitter, however, Creative Assembly's bio does state that it is working on two new unannounced projects. One of these could well be the Alien: Isolation sequel that has been cited.

The same source, which Insider Gaming says provided documentation and information under condition of anonymity, revealed that a new triple-A Alien title is in development. This unnamed project is reportedly set for a tentative holiday 2023 launch. This Alien game is believed to be codenamed "Marathon" and is being developed for current-gen consoles with an AAA budget.

The developer behind this triple-A project wasn't ascertained but the title is intended to be a survival horror and influenced by the likes of Dead Space and Resident Evil. Sounds scary to me. Currently, it is unknown when we can expect more information on these projects but perhaps in the new year more details will be revealed.
