Amazon Luna is now available in early access form to select customers throughout the US. If you're lucky enough to get an invite you'll be among the first group of players to check out Amazon's attempt at crafting a game streaming platform.

Don't worry if you haven't received an email yet– Amazon will be sending out access to more users in waves over the next few months. The team wants to get feedback from everyone, from casual to competitive players, to help craft the service into something that appeals to the widest audience possible.

During early access, you'll be able to test out the following:

  • Amazon Luna: Playable on Fire TV, PC, Mac, and iOS (Android is coming soon).
  • Luna+ Game Channel: Access to 50 games for $5.99/month, with more titles slated to be added over time.
  • Ubisoft Channel: Although it's not yet available, when it launches you'll be able to check out a massive collection of Ubisoft games – including Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
  • Luna Controller: You can use any Bluetooth controller with Luna, but you can also purchase the new Luna Controller for $49.99 from Amazon. It features Alexa integration and can take advantage of Amazon's Cloud Direct technology to help reduce latency.

Luna is also built with Twitch in mind, letting you watch streams directly from Luna – then quickly transition to playing games without fussing through a mess of navigation screens.

If you haven't yet signed up for early access, you can do so here.

Amazon Luna looks to be a worthwhile competitor to services such as Stadia, PlayStation Now, and GeForce Now. Like all game streaming services, you'll need a fast internet connection – and preferably one without a data cap, as Amazon said that you can expect to use up to 10GB/hr when running titles at 1080p.
