It’s 2021, and the biggest game of 2020 is still trucking right along. Innersloth recently posted an update to explain what’s coming this year and when to expect it, as well as why it’s taking a little longer than some people might have liked.

Among Us gained incredible traction pretty late into 2020 that we weren’t expecting, and that meant A LOT of change for us,” explained Innersloth. "We had to spend 2 months just restructuring, figuring out new processes, and getting external partners to help us manage on board."

Going from a relatively obscure game to perhaps 2020’s most popular title is one hell of a switch to pull off during a pandemic. Innersloth has already increased its production team by 25% (going from three to four people), "but if we wanted this to work long term and hire up, we needed to streamline things."

More platforms for Among Us also complicates things with additional certifications and bugs to clear out. But Innersloth is working through it and is on track to release the new Airship map in early 2021.

Tophat Airship was revealed during the 2020 Game Awards--someplace that Innersloth never expected to be, let alone winning Best Mobile and Best Multiplayer Game. Besides that, Among Us plans to post a 2021 roadmap in the coming weeks and introduce the game on Xbox Game Pass for consoles (it's already out on the PC version of Game Pass).

Accounts are also still on the way. This will make it easier to spot cheaters and also report toxic players. Still no details on how that'll work, but we're assuming it'll just use Steam's account system on PC, while mobile will have to input an email address or something.

And all the while, Innersloth will expand the team to make Among Us the best game it can be. Stay tuned for more as we barrel into 2021.
