Animal Crossing: New Horizons has offered players countless hours of entertainment by the very nature of its "non-ending" gameplay, and the release of the game's Summer Update wave one has further added to the content and gameplay that fans love. This not only includes the diving mechanic but the introduction of two new item series: the Mermaid set and the Pirate set.

Unexpected island visitor Gullivarrr is apparently not the Gulliver we all know and love, but regardless of his identity, he brings wonderful new gifts in the form of exclusive Pirate items in exchange for helping him find his communicator. There are tons of shiny things perfect for decorating an island with, so let's find out which items are the real treasures of this set.

10 Pirate Dress

As if there wasn't enough great clothing possible in New Horizons, the new Summer update introduced several pirate-themed outfits such as the Pirate dress. This outfit comes in several variations including blue, red, and grey, all featuring lovely black stripes and puffy sleeves. For those who want to live a pirate's life but enjoy clothing with a little more flow and frills, this is the perfect outfit.

9 Sideways Pirate Barrel

The Pirate set is not just a barrel of fun - it's two barrels of fun. Two different barrel furniture items exist in the set, one being a barrel standing up and one a sideways barrel. This is in reference to how barrels are often stored on their side for multiple reasons: not only are they easier to move around/transport while on their side, but there's no risk of them falling over while stored on a ship. The Sideways pirate barrel is more unique than the rest of the barrels in the game, which is why it earns a spot on this list. Besides, it never hurts to add more furniture towards that five-star island rating.

8 Pirate's Hat

The creativity of Animal Crossing fans seemingly knows no limits. This amazing design idea features the creation of an entire "ship" fitted with cannons, treasure, and a dashing captain fitted with a Pirate's Hat. The Pirate's hat has been featured in previous Animal Crossing games as a purchasable item, leaving some fans to wonder about its existence until the wave one update. Hats off to Nintendo for this one.

7 Sea Captain's Coat

Let everyone know who the boss is by wearing this beautifully-tailored Sea captain's coat. Not only does it come in three different colors, but it's also adorned with a white jabot around the neck.

This outfit pairs perfectly with the Pirate's hat for anyone wishing to enact a rambunctious treasure hunt. With the right custom design, "X marks the spot" can go from a saying to a reality.

6 Pirate-ship Cannon

Brainfeeder777's amazing pirate tavern features several items in the Pirate set, including the aforementioned barrels, but it's the use of the Pirate-ship cannons that really make the atmosphere. Cannons are classic pirate weapons, and the smell of the gunpowder was quite a common scent on pirate ships. These bad boys, unfortunately, do not seem to be customizable but will ward off any invaders from attacking your island.

5 Pirate Flooring

What could be better than Money flooring, a floor absolutely covered in bills? The Pirate flooring, of course. This flooring is a simple wooden plank design with a massive pile of gold coins and gems on top of it. This wonderful pirate room designed by Reddit user Zanexex is every pirate's dream, along with the practical necessities of a desk, comfortable chair, and teddy bear. To have such excessive wealth that it's scattered everywhere is akin to the hoarding of billionaires today, minus the bed on top of a gold coin pile.

4 Pirate Rug

With the introduction of rugs in New Horizons, players have really taken to furnishing their floors with big fluffy rugs. The Pirate rug, however, offers not just comfort but the promise of adventure and riches beyond one's wildest imagination. Having a treasure map as a rug makes total sense; players can now follow in the footsteps of those brave adventurers of old.

3 Pirate-treasure Crown

It may not be the most valuable/expensive crown, but its silver shine and precious jewels make owning this accessory a "crowning achievement." The Pirate-treasure crown can be seen as the twin of the Mermaid set's Mermaid tiara, as the societal perspectives on pirates and mermaids both value treasure, righteousness, and leadership (or monarchy in some cases).

Wearing a crown is a massive symbol of power and importance, and that extends to any game that allows for customization or dress-up. Let's face it: wearing a crown as a kid made us feel important, so why would it be any different in Animal Crossing?

2 Pirate-treasure Robe

Sometimes it's not enough to showcase one's wealth and status on their head alone. Sometimes it has to extend to the whole body, as is the case with this luxurious Pirate-treasure robe. Lined with gold, jewels, and what appears to be fur, this outfit is undeniably flashy and flaunty, if not jaunty. In reality, many pirates were ordinary folks who had no other choice but piracy to make ends meet, but the Pirate-treasure robe sells the dream of the potential endless riches, and for the pirates who plundered the most, showing off such riches was all a part of the victory.

1 Pirate-treasure Chest

Reddit-user toffeeburgerr has created the perfect display for the ultimate item in this set: the Pirate-treasure chest itself. In real history, pirates burying treasure was actually a rare occurrence, only made popular through literary fiction such as Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, but there's something so satisfying about seeing a chest bursting at the seams with gold coins and precious jewelry. For those who love hosting treasure hunts on their island, no prize could be more fitting than this one. X marks the spot!
