Having trouble working during the slowdown caused by Covid-19? It looks like now is a great time to become a black-market dealer for highly coveted items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A quick search online reveals that several sights have listing for in-game items that can be purchased with real money, including on eBay.

The listings reveal a wide range of items, including Gold Nuggets and DIY recipes for Golden tools. In all seriousness, this is activity that should be avoided at all costs, both as a potential proprietor and a buyer. This is because the only way that many of these listings are able to produce such enormous amounts of rare items is through exploiting the game, which is sure to be seen by Nintendo as something that needs to be dealt with quickly and harshly.

As a result, it would not be surprising for Nintendo to begin tracking players who are trading with strangers in large amounts, especially for rare goods. Not only is it reasonable to assume that these players will be banned, but the goods sold and players who made a purchase could be disciplined as well.

The best move is to avoid these cheaters altogether and given that the developers basically do not mind time-traveling, that should be more than enough of an advantage for most players.
