Animal Crossing has celebrated its' 20th anniversary this year and in that time it has introduced players to a lot of characters. Some have captured fans' hearts, like Marshal and Celeste. Others have become slight nightmare fuel, like Zipper T. Bunny. Overall, fans of the franchise both new and old all have their own favorite characters to interact with.
One of the unique aspects of Animal Crossing is that players can dig up fossils and take them to their museum where the ever-entertaining Blathers will be waiting. The wise owl is the museum curator however his personal quirks have made him the subject of quite a few hilarious memes.
10 Fake Painting Pain
All areas of the museums in each game are empty and are ready for players to fill up with their discoveries. This includes the art gallery but artworks cannot be dug out of the ground or caught like bugs. Instead, players have to navigate the dodgy salesman Redd who can often sell players a fake painting for a heft price tag. However, there are now plenty of guides on how to spot a fake painting.
Sadly though the guides aren't always a surefire way to stop being duped. As Twitter user makemeahcake knows all too well. Sometimes even the most meticulous of players can be tricked and the pain comes after handing it to Blathers to assess. The owl has no remorse in telling players they have spent their hard-earned bells on a fake, which is a bit harsh.
9 Butterflies Are Scary
Poor Blathers really does not like bugs. If players take any kind of creepy-crawly to him, he will have nothing short of a complete meltdown over it. It's kind of amusingly ironic how an Owl, a creature that eats bugs, is terrified of them in the Animal Crossing universe. It's these small character details that keep fans coming back time and time again.
However, even though he is terrified of them he still does his job valiantly and tells the player a few interesting facts about the bug they have brought in. He then takes the bug off the player to put it on display in the museum.
8 Artwork Is Hardwork
The artwork in the museum is definitely a pain that all Animal Crossing fans know about. For many, it is a consistently empty area of the museum as the opportunities to buy pieces of art are so rare. In the newest game Animal Crossing New Horizons, it is easier to see which ones are fake and real paintings on Redd's boat.

It can be very interesting to learn about the various things that get donated by the player. However, for some players, it can become very monotonous to sit through his speeches every single time.

As many loyal players know, Blathers is not going to become friends with bugs anytime soon. It is amusing to many that even handing over a harmless butterfly can send the owl into a panic. The developers have dropped hints throughout the games as to why he has this fear and many fans have come up with other possible reasons Blathers is afraid of bugs.

2 There Is A Difference
Nothing slips past an intelligent owl- ike Blathers, not even the difference between a Sea Snail and a regular Snail. In the games they do look almost exactly the same, the only difference is that one lives in the water and the other slowly slides about on land.

1 Donations Can Be Difficult
As with all games, there are areas in Animal Crossing that many fans would be happy without. One of these being the series of steps that need to be taken to donate a fossil to the museum. It is not as simple as it sounds. Redditor bosoxgeneral23 demonstrates the frustration of donations. First, they must dig it up and then take it to the museum.
Then, they have to ask Blathers to assess it and if the player has given a few fossils to him to assess at once he will give them all back. Only once they have been assessed, if the museum doesn't have them already players can donate them. Then they have to potentially sit through Blather's very long informational speech.
