Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 2.0 has generally been well received by players eager to see what’s new in their idyllic island paradises, but it hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing. For example, there’s a bug that might corrupt your save file if you try to remodel a home using the Happy Homes DLC. There’s also a slightly less apocalyptic bug that’s being reported where either a visitor or a villager might be catapulted into the space between.

Reddit user Enbion shows us the most startling example of this bug in action. One minute she's showing off her Gyroids to her sister, and then the next minute her sister gets carried away with an audible "swoosh."

Enbion explains in a follow-up post that they were never quite able to recreate the issue and that she eventually managed to extract herself from the terrifying void by running around and eventually falling into the stairs. It was still a terrifying ordeal for her as there was nothing but the cold emptiness of the void before then.

It's also not just limited to visiting players. Villagers can also get trapped in the void, doomed to flip flapjacks or scrub dishes hanging in the blackness just meters away from the safety and comfort of their own homes. A terrible fate to be sure.

Although terrifying, this bug seems to be largely cosmetic and self-correcting. The other bug, where you try to remodel the exterior of a villager's home with the airport gate open, is much more problematic. Doing so can lead to a corrupted save file, so other than not using the Happy Homes' new remodeling function, Nintendo recommends you keep your airport gate closed. And if you don't, immediately turn off your game and relaunch it without saving to avoid the bug.
