2020 may have been an absolute dumpster fire, but there's no doubt it was a great year for gaming. Twitter recently released a bunch of stats about video games on its platform, revealing Animal Crossing as the "Most Tweeted" game of the year.

Plenty of other high-profile games found their way onto the list, including Fortnite and Genshin Impact. Here's the full top ten:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Fate/Grand Order
  • Disney: Twisted-Wonderland
  • Final Fantasy
  • Ensemble Stars!
  • Knives Out
  • Genshin Impact
  • Apex Legends
  • Identity V

Meanwhile, The 2020 Game Awards was the most popular Gaming Even on Twitter, followed by The Future of Gaming on PS5 Event and TGS 2020. Gaming as a whole was the sixth most followed topic on Twitter, and within it these were the most popular gaming topics:

  • Gaming
  • Gaming News
  • Esports
  • Gaming Influencers
  • PlayStation
  • Fortnite
  • Call of Duty
  • Minecraft
  • Animal Crossing
  • Xbox

It's still incredible to see Minecraft hanging around with so many other big names. Despite launching over a decade ago, the classic title remains wildly popular – and will probably stay that way throughout 2021. As for Animal Crossing, we've already seen the initial frenzy die down, although we're sure diehard fans will stick around for years to come.
