Though many of us assume that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a wholesome game, some players are exploring its darker, more adult side.
Quarantined gamers around the world are seeking escape into perfect and wholesome worlds, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers an idyllic haven in which to start a new life. As players head to the shores of their very own island, many believe this paradise, with its cute animals and vibrant colors, is a wholesome and beautiful place, and indeed it is -- mostly.
As is always the way, players have discovered how to bring out the dark side of the island's inhabitants. While many are spending their nights stargazing, fishing, catching bugs, or other such wholesome activities, some are looking for more risqué pastimes.
For example, Twitch streamer Ashleeeean appears to have got bored while in quarantine and taken "adventuring with friends" to the next level in one video that is both terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time.
While Ashleeeean has obviously been thinking a lot about how to entertain her villagers after dark, she's not the only one making a jump and exploring more adult situations in the family-friendly game. Another Twitch streamer, Jambo, also had a similar idea, although hers is a bit less obvious:
Basically, the wholesome game has now been corrupted in less than 48 hours, which is pretty impressive. We're just glad they left the animals out. (Although maybe this is a new way Tom Nook has conjured up to help those who don't have enough bells pay off their never-ending debt to him.)
Whatever the reason for this debauchery, we don't think we want it on our islands -- at least not quite yet, we'll get back to you in a few weeks when we really start to lose it at home. In the meantime, wholesome players can continue collecting bells, stargazing, fishing, and exploring with many other players from around the world who are finding comfort in the title during these difficult times.
There's one thing we can be sure of though, and it's that Animal Crossing has always been an amazing escape during times of crisis and it continues to be so, even if your crisis is needing alternative ways to make a few bells.
