If you're looking for ways to improve your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then custom designs can help you out. Especially in the early game when you've not yet been able to unlock terraforming and similar game-changing mechanics, custom patterns are a huge help.

Once the Able Sisters clothing store is open then anyone with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can access custom designs using codes. Simply visit the store and interact with the kiosk in the back corner, next to the dressing room. Once you are connected you can search by design ID or creator and then save the designs you want.

Updated June 18th, 2020 By Helen Ashcroft: While Animal Crossing: New Horizons may have been out for a while, the quest to make the perfect island paradise takes time and most players are still slowly working towards it. The game is designed to be played at a relaxed pace and many fans are just starting to look for custom codes to improve their island.

There are so many ways that custom codes can add to your designs. From stalls to flags, paths, flooring, walls, and everything in between. We've added some more custom codes that will allow you to add some more unique touches to your island.

15 Turtle Beach

Do you want to see turtles on your beaches? Thanks to the shell stool and these awesome custom codes now you can. Codes can be easily placed on beaches and the default swatch of the shell stool makes them look perfect.

The recipe is a DIY so it can be found in bottles, balloons, and from crafting villagers. Once you've got it you'll need 5 cowries to craft the stool and create an adorable turtle.

14 Matching Stall For Market Place Banner

The marketplace banner is an item that Animal Crossing Pocket Camp players can get in their New Horizons game as an unlockable bonus. It's bright and neat looking but yet has seemed fairly useless since nothing else matches it.

With this custom code that's no longer an issue. You can now create simple stalls that will match the banner, bringing unity to any marketplace design.

13 Grass And Lattice Tiles

If you want to add some quirkiness to your decks then these grass and lattice tiles provide the solution. They add some depth and uniqueness when placed on top of regular wooden paths.

You can also experiment with placing them over other paths or even just your grass to give an illusion of grass tufts sprouting up in random places.

12 Harry Potter Stalls

If you are looking to theme your island around your favorite wizarding franchise then these Harry Potter custom stalls could be the answer. The designs span a range of magical needs and were all created by one person so they are easy to locate.

Pay tribute to Zonko's, Florean Fortescue's, The Quibbler, Honeydukes, The Daily Prophet, Ollivander's, Flourish and Blotts, Madam Malkin's and Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. They're all you'd need for a truly magical market.

11 NES Emulator

If you've been lucky enough to get your hands on a computer for your home then customizing it is the next step. There are many options available but retro fans are sure to love this NES emulator.

This massively ambitious project generates QR codes for famous artworks and allows you to import them into your game using the Nook Link app. The museum has chosen some of its favorites but also offers a search function for you to generate them from their huge open-access art collection.

9 Dino Footprints

Do you want to build on the dinosaur theme cultivated by your fossil collection? Maybe you want to recreate Jurassic Park with those skeletons? Or how about a unique path leading to your museum?

These dino footprints by Nny are funky and versatile. Make dinosaur themed clothing, paths, or put a footprint on your flag. Whatever you do they're sure to give a touch of the Jurassic era to your island.

7 Fake Hole

This code is for the players who love a good prank. The fake hole can be placed on the ground to mess with friends who think they can just freely dig on your island. It cannot be dug but it can be kicked and "covered."

You can see the trick in action thanks to Skyler Chui's video. As you can see it looks completely legitimate and will give you a laugh if you want to troll your friends.

6 Brewster

Currently, Brewster and The Roost cafe are not yet in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, if you miss the quiet coffee seller then this pattern from wancori123 has you covered. When displayed on an outfit it provides a stopgap that will help you deal with that ache.

Combined with a stall decorated with Roost logos, you can almost imagine that your morning coffee is being provided. You could even throw 200 bells at the statue to complete the experience.

5 Loft Hack

If you want to create a loft room then custom tiles placed on the floor are the answer. Twitter user yamaji_maya discovered this hack and has codes that can be combined and placed to create the optical illusion of tiered flooring.

You can find all the codes and the full instructions on how to create this illusion here. It's easy to do and can make even a one-room home look unique.

4 Pink Popcorn Stall

If you want to make a stall that matches the vibrant pink popcorn machine then this pattern by Cloudie is for you. It would also work for any stall that needs a pink candyfloss touch.

3 Ironwood Kitchen Low Budget Version

If you're still desperately searching for the items needed to make an ironwood kitchen then this design from Redditor Hijynks will tide you over. It adds the iconic ironwood design easily to a stall, making it appear as a counter with drawers.

Accessories can help pull together the look until you can gather all the items to make the elusive kitchen for real. While we aren't too sure about applying the design to the top of the stall the cupboards on the bottom look fantastic.

2 Orchard Signs

If you want a neat way to tell what each of the trees in your orchard is then these cute signs by Shelly will help you out. Simply add to a sign and display in the appropriate place and never lose track again.

Since fruit is often immediately picked this will help you organize and keep your trees in order, as well as making bare orchards look nicer.

For anyone who fancies branching out into museum merchandise these items by raealy are a great start. The cute custom fossil hat is also perfect for explorers who are often found with a spade in hand.

Adding them to a stall is a perfect way to make the museum entrance a little unique, and maybe Blathers will make a few bells along the way. He deserves it for dealing with all those bugs.
