A major aspect that sets Animal Crossing: New Horizons apart from other Animal Crossing games is its DIY system. You collect DIY cards with recipes for different pieces of furniture, accessories, and outfits that you can use.

There is a wide variety of DIYs that players can collect. Most preferences depend on the individual. Some players really want plant-based DIYs while others want things to add to the theme park they are building. It all depends on what you want on your island.

However, there are some recipes that are just disappointing. This is not necessarily because they are bad, but because they are difficult to build. You may need to wait months before finding all the parts needed. Then there are also those that are actually just bad. With that in mind, here are ten of the most disappointing DIYs in the game so far.

10 All the Cardboard Boxes

The cardboard set is widely agreed upon to be the worst DIYs in the game. You just put a bunch of cardboard boxes together and call it a bed, a couch, or a table. It's not only what very few players want on their island or home, but it is actually a little time-consuming to make.

You have to collect cardboard boxes, and that can take far more effort than any of the furniture with worth.

9 The Ironwood Kitchenette

This furniture piece is actually a little notorious among the fans. What makes it disappointing is actually due to the fact that it is highly desired but very hard to make. A lot of players want to make a kitchen, and the ironwood set lets you customize the color.

However, you need two other pieces of furniture to make the kitchenette, a ironwood dresser as well as a cutting board. A lot of players have complained about how hard it is to find those items.

8 Log Decorated Shelves

The log decorated shelves suffer the same fate as the ironwood kitchenette. They are cute and pretty customizable, so a lot of players like the design.

However, you need other pieces of furniture to make the shelves. In fact, you need a log bench. That is an entirely different DIY.

7 The Bunny Day Outfits

Back in April, making any of the Bunny Day DIYs was pretty easy. However, that didn't mean players wanted to make the stuff.

The outfits were especially undesirable. They were basically bags with patterns on them. There was a single outfit that had a little more creativity, the Egg Day Party Dress. However, that was one out good one out of many heinously uninspired outfits.

6 Log Extra-long Sofa

This is one of the desirable pieces with an undesirable amount of effort. You better hope you bought or got the DIY recipe for regular log sofas before you get the recipe for the extra-long version. If not, then you will be stuck with this DIY and no way to build it.

5 The Robot Hero

This Robot Hero is known as the most difficult recipe in the game. You need 30 rusted parts, which you get a chance to collect once a day and only get one through the giveaway freebie box at the town center building. Then you need a rocket which is a recipe you get from Celeste. Then there is gold armor, which is another DIY card you have to find.

You better love this robot, because it is going to take forever to build.

4 Lucky Gold Cat

You need just two things for this cool golden cat, a gold nugget and a lucky cat. Gold nuggets can slowly be collected, but the lucky cat might take you a bit.

Don't hold onto the hope that you can build a lucky cat or buy it from Nook's Cranny. You actually can only get it from Guiliver. Out of all the items he sends you for helping him, your chances of getting a lucky cat will be a little slim.

3 Golden Rose Wreath

Gold roses are not the most difficult flowers to breed (that title is for blue roses) but they make for a good second-most-difficult flower to breed.

The game has many wreath DIYs that you can use to decorate doors in the game. One such DIY is for a gold rose wreath. You need 10 gold roses to make the wreath, and it's not even as pretty as the other wreaths available in the game.

2 Street Piano

The street piano is a very cool furniture piece. However, you need an upright piano and painting set to build it. Those are not commonly found items. In fact, the upright piano is a little expensive compared to other furniture you can buy in the game. It is 53,000 bells.

Once you buy that piano though, you will need to wait for a painting set to be sold and that can take a while.

1 Leaf

The leaf is actually incredibly easy to make. All you need is weeds that you can pull up from the ground. However, some fans have been disappointed when they put the accessory on. They hoped the leaf would go into their hair,  but no, it is in your characters' mouth.
