The latest installment in the Animal Crossing franchise, New Horizons on Nintendo Switch, was released only two weeks ago and has already taken the world by storm. Gamers of all kinds in all continents are living on virtual deserted-islands-turned-functional-towns filled with anthropomorphic animals. They're spending hours upon hours shaking trees, catching critters, and gathering supplies to turn their islands into dream getaways.

Island life has sparked inspiration in many artistic fans, who have been sharing their New Horizons-based artwork online since the release. Much of the artwork features the wholesome side of Animal Crossing, but of course, there are some that hilariously poke fun at the nonsense of it all. Let's take a look at some of the funniest Animal Crossing: New Horizons comics.

10 Blathers Logic By TheJenkinsComic

Source: Reddit

Blathers, the wise old owl who runs the island's museum, knows just about everything there is to know bugs, fossils, and fish. He typically accepts bugs and fish without a fuss, but fossils are a different story. Before he'll accept them, they have to be properly assessed... something only Blathers can do.

Nintendo only knows why Blathers won't accept fossils until you ask him to assess them first in another prompt. Perhaps the owl just wants someone to talk to for a few extra minutes.

9 Isabelle Smash By Ry-Spirit

Everybody's favorite Shih-Tzu secretary, Isabelle, makes her return in New Horizons following a stint in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo announced back in September 2018 that the beloved Animal Crossing NPC would join the fighting game as a playable character.

After two years of battling enemies with a fishing rod, Isabelle is back and ready to help you run your town. This cartoon is definitely how we pictured her walking into New Horizons.

8 Happy Bunny Day By Chicinlicin

The Bunny Day event is the bane of any avid fisherman's existence in New Horizons. From April 1 to April 12, the islands are overrun by Zipper T. Bunny's eggs. They're in the trees, the rivers, the ground, the sky, and the rocks. Many players have been complaining about the outrageous spawn rates for these eggs, as they've replaced some of the fish that players sell for money.

Bugs are the only ones safe from Zipper's wrath. We're all counting down the days until this event is over.

7 Moving Is Exciting By Katie Tiedrich

You've dealt with wasps and scorpions, now get ready for.... tarantulas. One of the downsides of moving to a deserted island is apparently the frequent spawning of angry tarantulas. Be careful when you're walking at night because these hairy things will hiss and attack you if you get too close. They're basically nightmare fuel, especially for arachnophobics. But, yeah, moving is fun!

6 Tarantula Hunter By Benepanda.art

Tarantulas may be terrifying, but collecting some of those creepy crawlers is one of the best ways to make quick bells. The nocturnal, eight-legged creature sells for a whopping 8,000 bells at Nook's Cranny. Players have started taking advantage of the high price by heading out to mystery islands and transforming them into tarantula islands.

Catching tarantulas is definitely a dangerous and time-consuming game. Then again, that just makes it much more satisfying when you come home with filled pockets. Get ready to rake in the bells. What do Timmy and Tommy do with all those tarantulas, anyway?

5 Afraid Of Bugs By Howemuginative

Blathers makes it very clear as soon as he comes to the island that he's not very fond of bugs (and that's putting it lightly). He can collect fish and fossils for days, but if it has more than four legs, forget about it. We wonder how Blathers decided to open up a chain of museums when he's terribly frightened of one-third of his donations. And how does he release all the bugs into the insect hall?

4 Bullying Villagers By Skrillbug

Apparently Animal Crossing's AI doesn't quite register bullying. Unwanted villagers can be driven out of town, which has led many players to resort to straight-up villager harassment. Still, it seems that no matter how many times you whack a villager with your net, shove bugs in their face, or send them angry letters, they'll thank you for thinking of them.

The best way to get rid of a villager, though it takes some time, is to just ignore them entirely for days. You can also speed things up a bit by complaining about the villager to Isabelle. Believe it or not, surrounding their house with signs that say "leave" repeatedly is not going to get the message across.

3 It Happened Again By Vanstuke

Timmy and Tommy, Tom Nook's rumored sons or nephews, will buy anything from you. Literally, anything. They would likely take a pile of trash for at least 200 bells. Collecting all the little common things around the island, such as weeds, flowers, or even butterflies, is an excellent way to make some quick cash.

New Horizons introduced the convenient drop-off box to sell items during the late night and early morning when Nook's Cranny is closed. The raccoon brothers will mail you money the following day, although it will only be 80 percent of the items' normal values. Still, it's an excellent way to empty your pockets after store hours.

2 Sea Bass By Mittymandi

Source: Tumblr

The one thing that Animal Crossing fishermen despise more than water eggs... sea bass. The sea bass (no, wait, it's a C+!) is one of the most common ocean fish in the game. It spawns year-round, all day and all night, so there's no escaping the fish and its horrible fun.

Thankfully, sea bass sell for 400 bells. That's not much to make you rich by any means, but pockets full of sea bass would rake in a somewhat pretty penny. Sea bass are still going to be made fun of by the Animal Crossing community forever, though.

1 Tom Nook The Devil By Animauxing

Congratulations on your first contract with the devil! Choosing a plot of land for your home is just one of many times that the money-hungry Tom Nook will put you in debt. Want to expand? Debt. Looking to add a bridge? Debt. Trying to move a villager's house over by two inches? Debt. And yet, we wouldn't have it any other way.
