The televisions in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are another source of minute detail in the popular Nintendo-exclusive life simulator. Seriously, we could write a full-length book about all the different kinds of details in this game, but this is one of the coolest so far.

Someone on Twitter noticed that the in-game television broadcasts a show which mentions Halloween if you're playing during October. Now you have something extra to look out for as everyone's favorite Season of Spooks rolls out over the next few months.

If you're familiar with the Animal Crossing universe, you'll know that Halloween has been a prominent feature throughout the series. Now that we can (almost) say that the spooky season is officially upon us in real life, players of New Horizons can start getting excited to see what Nintendo has in store for the game's very first Halloween event.

It's already cool enough that Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter in New Horizons have been made to correspond with the flow and change of our real-life seasons, with the help of the Nintendo Switch's inbuilt clock. You also get to choose whether your island will be located in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, which will obviously have an effect on the occurrence of the in-game seasons.

And, more surreptitiously, you can also perform some time-travelling by manually altering your Switch's date and time, which will of course also affect the flow of time on your island. It's kinda like cheating though.

Many, if not most of us, will likely pick the hemisphere that matches our current real-world hemisphere - that way, as each season unfolds around us in real life, its equivalent will do the same on our island.

Other things are affected by the changing seasons, too, like the selection of bugs, fish, and sea creatures that are present on your island at any given point in time. All this is made that much cooler now that we know the little TV detail exists, too.
