Achieving a five-star rating on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island takes a lot of effort to make it the best it can possibly be. Players know this accomplishment has tons of perks, particularly triggering the sprouting of a special flower called Lily of the Valley. Previously called the Jacobs Ladder in other games, this rare treasure only blooms with special conditions. Its beauty is a status symbol of all the time you've spent to perfect your village and its spaces. Keep reading to find out how to get it!

Player talking to Isabelle.

The first thing you'll want to do before anything is go talk to Isabelle to find out your rating. She'll let you know about any feedback villagers have given about how to improve the island. You can see here for more information on how to increase your rating, but for the most part, basic things like minimizing weeds and talking to your villagers helps with maintenance. Do keep in mind that a rating can fluctuate if you become neglectful, it is very easy to drop from a four star to a five within a day.

Once your island becomes a five star, keep your eyes peeled for the Lily of the Valley. What you're looking for is a white bell shaped plant that has three bulbs. This plant is not known to come in any other colors. The flower will definitely stand out since it typically grows one at a time on the island. In fact it blooms so slow you may not see one for a few days, or even a week at a time, so patience is a virtue.

Worth around 222 bells a piece, this price point could be profitable if the flower yielded more but since it doesn't, keeping it as a trophy of your accomplishment is a better option. Unlike a regular flower, you can't even pull it off the stem to let it regrow, the only allowed method is to scoop it with a shovel. The Lily of the Valley exists solely for ornamental purposes. Some suggestions for decorating would be to display them in your home for visitors to see, or use them to decorate your garden or even the front of your home like statues. That way each time you go inside, you can look at them as a remembrance of the hard work you did to earn its blooming on your island!
