The Nook Shopping app on NookPhones offers the same features as the Nook Stop in Resident Services. You're still limited to five purchases for yourself each day — but having quick access from your phone makes it much more enjoyable to browse the extensive catalog.
Unlocking the Nook Shopping app in New Horizons is a simple, yet time-consuming, process. All players have to do is purchase 100 items from the Nook Stop in Resident Services. Since you're limited to five purchases per day, you'll want to take advantage of the ability to send other players gifts. You're limited to two gifts per friend each day, but it'll certainly help speed up your quest to 100.
If you want to check on your process, open your Nook Mileage app and scroll down to the "Shop to it!" achievement. Here, you'll find exactly how many purchases you've made. If you're starting from scratch — and don't want to send any gifts to friends — you'll hit the 100-purchase milestone in 20 days. In the meantime, use all the items you've purchased to decorate your island and try to reach a five-star rating.
There's only one limitation to the Nook Shopping app — it can't be used when visiting other islands. The app can still be opened to view the catalog, but you won't be able to order anything from Tom Nook when not on your own turf. It's a minor inconvenience in an otherwise useful app. Plus, it's free! Just keep purchasing items from Resident Services and you'll earn the Nook Shopping app before you know it.
