Compared to its predecessors, Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers a great deal of customization options for players to sink their teeth into when it comes to home decoration. This includes, but is not limited to, the customizable Nintendo Switch model that players receive in the mail after a certain length of play.

According to Nintendo Life, players who have updated their copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to version 1.1.0 or later should have received an in-game model of their Nintendo Switch via the game's mail system. Funnily enough, the in-game model's appearance should reflect the Nintendo Switch purchased by the player, whether it is the standard neon red and blue Switch, the gray Switch, or the Animal Crossing: New Horizons-themed Nintendo Switch.

However, if you're dissatisfied with the Nintendo Switch model you received, you do have the option to modify it. After spending a few days with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will be granted the ability to change the color of their Switch. They can do so by taking the Switch to a workbench. From there, they can use a Customization Kit to toggle between the gray or neon red and blue Switch.

Unfortunately, there is no option to switch to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons-themed Switch if you have one of the two standard consoles. Further, there are no other variations available that include, for instance, the neon purple and yellow Joy-Cons or the neon green set of Joy-Cons. However, the mere option to tailor the in-game Nintendo Switch model to your preference is a fairly neat addition and another instance of self-expression in Animal Crossing.

Of course, there are many more minor details and ins and outs to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For example, the game has the familiar Gulliver, the seagull. After washing up on your island's shores, he will give you a reward as is routine with Animal Crossing characters. Other in-game mechanics such as crafting tools gives players the option to expand their home's repertoire. By using Golden Crafting Tools, players can avoid the annoyance of the eventual breakage of plain crafting tools.

These are only a few among many other neat details in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and players should be sure to check out the beginner's guide on how to get started in the game.
