Money may not grow on trees in the real world - but in the Animal Crossing universe, they can! Want a fun way to make some extra bells? TheGamer has got you covered with a guide on how to grow your own money trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - not to mention our complete guide to the entire game.

For those who are unfamiliar, money trees are trees that grow bells, the main form of in-game currency in all Animal Crossing games. Just like dollar bills in real-life, bells are pretty imperative if you want to make your way around town. Bells can be used to buy furniture to decorate a player's home, to buy clothing for the player to wear, and, of course, to pay off players' debts. While there are a number of ways for players to earn bells, growing a money tree is a pretty fun and (once you get the hang of it) easy way to go about it.

To plant a money tree, head outside and start looking for a glowing spot on the ground. You should see a shiny golden area. Dig up the glowing spot. After digging, you should find a bag of bells. Rather than just grabbing the bells and running, stay there.

Fill the hole with another bag of bells. Whatever number you decide to plant is how much your tree will yield per bag. For example, if you plant a bag of 1,000 bells, your tree will produce three bags of 1,000 bells each, totaling 3,000. Therefore, you could easily make 30,000 bells from one tree, if you have an extra 10,000 bells your willing to spare (as 10,000 is the limit on bell bags when planting money trees).

Note that like other trees, the money tree is going to take a few days to grow and actually produce bells. Be sure to treat this like any other plant, and don't forget to water it and keep checking in daily.

If you happen to find a glowing spot in an area you don't want (or simply want to move your money tree to a move convenient location), use your shovel after you bury your bells to dig up the money tree sapling and plant it elsewhere. This won't affect anything else about your tree.

Once the tree is fully grown, you'll see three bell bags hanging from it. Simply shake the tree to grab your bells! Note that each money tree is a one-time plant, meaning that after it produces bell bags once, it'll just turn into a regular tree.
