Mario Kart players have been finding alternate routes and secret glitches hidden in the game's courses for years. YouTuber Shesez dedicates his entire channel to exposing the areas that the devs don't want you to see. This time, Shesez was exploring Animal Crossing: New Horizons and managed to take a rare look at what trees look like from the back. Naughty.

Shesez took a deep dive into New Horizons' mechanics and highlighted the game's secrets by being able to mod the in-game camera to rotate. After talking a little about the game's fixed perspective, he then revealed a previously undocumented image of what the various fruit trees look like from the behind. Caught with not nearly as much foliage as the front, the trees look rather boring and almost incomplete.

Taking to Twitter to promote his discovery, Shenez eventually released the images himself as screenshots from his video were starting to spread. His followers were quick to point out the legal problems that the YouTuber could face for modifying a Nintendo IP and felt he was generally being disrespectful. Shenez insisted that his intentions were not to bring shame to the devs but highlight the work they do to create the environments we see. Various images of awkwardly cut trees also flooded his thread in true internet fashion.

With 734k subscribers, Shesez has been running his "Boundary Break" series for over 4 years. Using modifications to explore the world of a developer and understand the mechanics of his favorite games, he's become a white hat modifier with the best of intentions. Creating various playlists like his "Sequence Break" and "Out of Bounds" series, Shesez shares his passion for the technical details of a game that most players would never notice.

The creator has done a few New Horizons videos for his channel to break the mold on Nintendo's fixed perspectives. In his videos, he talks about the warped sense of depth players see when viewing their island from the front. He continues by showing buildings from the side and acknowledging how thin they are in comparison to what the players perceive from their centered viewpoint.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons became quite the phenomenon this year, especially for gamers looking to pass the time during lockdown. Shenez has released a number of videos during the quarantine period for games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Resident Evil 4. While modifying is frowned open, his content is certainly intriguing for players who want to peak behind the vale.
