Animal Crossing: New Horizons' second wave of summer updates is finally live, introducing brand new features like dream islands, fireworks shows, and more.

Version 1.4.0 has officially been implemented into the game. The update was announced by Isabelle herself via Animal Crossing's official Twitter account (@animalcrossing). The tweet reads: "The #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons Summer Update – Wave 2 is available now! The update brings fireworks shows each Sunday in August, and the ability visit other players’ islands in a dream. Plus, the island and backup and restoration feature is ready to go!"

As reported previously, the update introduces a number of new exciting additions, like the abovementioned weekly fireworks shows, as well as new items in the Nook Shopping inventory, a new feature on the Nook Camera that allows guests to turn off guide information, and an edit to the "funny glasses" item that matches it with an avatar's skin.

The update has also added a save data backup feature, which allows players to save their island data to Nintendo using the island backup restoration service. This allows them to access their island if they no longer have access to their Switch console, making it easy to retrieve their island in the event of a stolen, lost, or broken Switch. This feature is only available to those who have a Nintendo Switch Online account and have enabled New Horizons backups.

Beyond that, probably the most exciting part of the update is a brand new feature that allows players to travel to other players' islands through a dream. Players can go to bed and meet up with Luna, who will then help them travel to another island using online functionality. Not only will players be able to visit, but according to Nintendo, they can also meet the Resident Representative and take home a custom design.

Despite the relative newness of the update, fans have already been posting their island codes online, hoping to attract new visitors while they're dreaming. Many codes have already been posted as replies to "Isabelle's" original tweet.
