Animal Crossings: New Horizons is a game that has something for everyone to enjoy. Whether it's a seasonal update or changes to the shopping catalog, or even a community challenge, the game gives you reasons to keep going back. In fact, there's one thing sure to get you to play again—the latest Animal Crossing trend is making villagers appear to "float" in the air.

Of course, there is no way to make your character jump, let alone float, which means innovative players have had to find ways of recreating the effect without ever jumping. The method takes advantage of existing game mechanics, though, so it's just a matter of timing a screenshot perfectly to create the illusion of "floating" villagers.

The trend was started a couple of months ago, and tasks participants with coming up with the most creative way of showing their character "floating" in the air. You can do this yourself by getting your in-game camera ready, and snapping a pic while your character is in the process of sitting or laying down. When you sit or lie down, there is a short animation that will have your character floating in the air for a brief second. Capturing the perfect frame of that animation is the challenge.

Players are getting extremely creative with their setups for the challenge. We've seen astronauts, pirates, and little fairy scenes. Hiding the object that you're character will ultimately end up on (or editing it out) is the best way to complete the perfect illusion. With Halloween just around the corner, there are dozens of things that you can do for an interesting twist on the trend.

As a matter of fact, we've seen one player do a witch theme already, although they had to edit in a broom to complete it. However, there are other ways of getting into the season and the trend without using photo editing. Wearing a spooky sheet costume can help you become a true ghost. If you don't want to do that, perhaps you can be a sort of scarecrow.

The nice thing about this challenge is that the possibilities are largely limited only by your imagination. If you can think of it, there is probably a way to do it. We don't know about you, but we hope that this trend continues and evolves.
