Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp – Nintendo's popular mobile spin-off from 2017 – has officially surpassed $250 million in player spending. Much of its success is directly related to that of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the game's renewed popularity has propelled Pocket Camp to an impressive milestone.

According to new data from SensorTower, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp currently ranks as the number two mobile game for player spending in the Nintendo mobile games roster. It's only dwarfed by Fire Emblem Heroes, which has seen a staggering $929.6 million spent since its launch. Still, Pocket Camp's $255.7 million is nothing to scoff at – beating out popular titles such as Mario Kart Tour, Dragalia Lost, and even Super Mario Run.

"Following its 2017 release, the title’s best year ever came in 2020, due in part to the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch and the peak of the global COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns," said Craig Chapple, mobile insights strategist at SensorTower.

Chapple continues, "In 2020, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp generated $77.5 million from player spending, a rise of 23.6 percent from 2019. So far in 2021, the title has accumulated $51.5 million. Last year also saw the title’s best month ever for revenue, with the game picking up $8.4 million in May 2020, which followed its second best month ever for downloads in April 2020, when it accumulated 7.1 million installs."

Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently saw a massive update that introduced new collectible items, new camera features, and several new characters to interact with. It'll be interesting to see if Pocket Camp sees another surge in player spending over the next few months, as fans of New Horizons check out the free mobile title in their spare time.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is available on both iOS and Android.
