Pokemon decided to surprise us a little more than a week ago by ending the most recent Pokemon Presents with a first look at its next mainline games, Scarlet & Violet. Despite the new games launching before the end of 2022, we still know very little about them. That hasn't stopped avid members of the Pokemon fan community taking the little information we have been given and running with it though, of course.

Most of the focus has been on the three new starters that will kick off the ninth generation of Pokemon. Sprigatito, Fucecoco, and Quaxly have quickly captured the hearts of Pokemon fans and appear to be a rare example of a class where there isn't one of the three that is universally disliked. Not a first, but something that hasn't happened for a very long time.

Sadly for those of you who have fallen in love with the new trio, we are still at least seven or eight months away from being able to pick one and start a new adventure. Modder doom desire has offered up the next best thing, though. They have created the Scarlet & Violet starters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and shown off their incredibly cool creation on Twitter.

Villagers can't be naked, of course, it's not that kind of game, so the Pokemon even have little, very fitting, outfits. Floral patterns for Sprigatito, a very '90s-looking flame shirt for Fucecoco, and of course Quaxly is dressed as a sailor. The duck Pokemon is basically halfway there without the new outfit. doom desire has even popped them into the sort of room you often have to make your starter decision in and equipped it with some Pokeballs and a professor to give the whole thing a very authentic Pokemon feel.

While Pokemon fans have collectively decided the new starters are great, no one is quite as excited about the designs of Scarlet & Violet's human inhabitants. The people of the next Pokemon game look pretty different, and a lot of people don't like it. The designs in Sword & Shield were widely liked, so such a drastic change in the next generation of games doesn't appear to have gone down all too well.
