Start saving up those bells! Nintendo recently announced the release of the series 5 set of Amiibo cards for Animal Crossing.

The announcement was made via the official Twitter account of Animal Crossing - which is run by your favorite canine assistant, Isabelle. It was also posted on other related accounts, such as Nintendo of Europe.

Although the tweet did not give any additional details, such as a release date or what cards would be included, fans seemed to be awaiting a potential inclusion of cards featuring favorites - lazy lamb Sherb & smug cat Raymond. Just like with prior sets, it can be assumed that the series 5 will come with five regular village cards, as well as one featuring a special character.

The news comes a few weeks after Nintendo announced that the Animal Crossing 1 - 4 series would soon be back on the shelves at Target. You can look on Target’s website to see where the cards are in your area. If you can get your hands on a set, they are available for $5.99.

The Animal Crossing Amiibo cards are to bring the villager into your Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, and more, giving you the ability to invite villagers to other villager’s homes, give villagers jobs and is the only way you can get a design request from special characters.

The tweet was a part of a thread that included another announcement. A tweet with a 40 second trailer was also posted informing of an Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct - which will take place next month. The October livestream let all fans know what content will be released in November. In the clip, we see a villager approach a sleeping Bathers in the foyer of the museum. The villager then proceeds to ascend the stairs and comes to a sign reading “The Roost Open 24-7” before exiting the room. The Roost is a café featured in the Animal Crossing multiverse and is run by Brewster - an easily offended pigeon.

In other Animal Crossing news, a manga was recently released by Viz Media that shows what the villagers do when you aren’t playing. And that’s not all. The National Videogame Museum just opened up a new digital exhibition all about Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is free to the public and features stories submitted by fans.
