Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 2.0 was supposed to launch on November 5. There's a handy rhyme about it and everything - "Remember, remember the fifth of November." Oh? That's unrelated? Well, it still helped. Anyway, the update went online in the early hours of November 4, a full day ahead of schedule.

If your copy of the game hasn't updated yet and you want to wait as God intended, good for you. If, like many other keen island owners out there you just can't wait to get your grubby little paws on the latest update, simply press the '+' button over the software on the Nintendo Switch main menu and select 'software update via the internet'.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 2.0 update will be the last free major content update for the game. This update sees the return of fan favourite coffee addict and barista, Brewster. His coffee shop, The Roost, will also be making a return. In it, you'll find villagers flocking to get their daily does of wake-up-go-fast juice, and there will be amiibo functionality - meaning you can finally see your Animal Crossing figures come to life.

As well as Brewster, there will be a load more villagers you can ask to inhabit your island. The mechanical octopus Cephalobot, Quinn the eagle, Ace the bird, and more.

There are also many quality of life improvements added to this update, such as being able to squeeze between furniture, dictating when your villagers wake up, and how long their shops stay open for.

The paid DLC, Happy Home Paradise, that was due to launch on November 5 is currently not available to purchase, meaning whatever caused the update to go live early has not affected the DLC - sorry, you'll have to wait for it.

Nintendo has confirmed that Happy Home Paradise will be the only paid DLC, meaning after the 2.0 update and this, large content updates will be coming to a halt. It's sad, but the game is almost two years old now, and we can hopefully still expect regular seasonal updates and events.
