The game is home to thousands of items the player can craft and/or acquire. With that many items, there has to be plenty that are either super interesting or weird, right? Let's now rank the 5 weirdest and 5 most awesome in-game items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

10 Weird: Skull Radio

You may look at the skull radio and think nothing of it. At first glance, it simply looks like the type of novelty item you'd pick up from a Hot Topic. The more and more you think about it though the more sinister its origin becomes to you.

As players, we assume that it's made of some sort of plastic or metal and is simply shaped and designed into a skull. It's never bee considered that this might be the skull of a former villager and its parts were re-purposed by the Nook family as an item they could sell in their shop.

9 Awesome: Surf Board

Surfboards and surf culture, in general, have been cool for as long as it's existed. Any kid born in the '90s knows how awesome surfing is thanks in large part to films like the Disney Channel Original Movie known as Johnny Tsunami.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has plenty of surfboards to collect and display around your island. It's a shame you can't surf in the game itself, but being able to own and display them is a nice consolation at least. Do yourself a favor and collect them whenever they pop up in Nook's Cranny.

8 Weird: Ramshackle Wall

Have you ever met a fellow Animal Crossing player who was excited to make their home look like an abandoned complex? The answer to that should be no considered almost everyone designs their home to be visually appealing to their interests.

The ramshackle wall is made to resemble a place that's on the brink of collapse and offers no aesthetic benefits. It becomes even creepier if used as the wallpaper for your basement and paired with other trash-adjacent items. Why one Earth would you want that aesthetic in a game like Animal Crossing?

7 Awesome: Punk Dress

Earlier the skull radio was talked about as an item that could have been purchased at a Hot Topic. Now we'll be talking about an outfit that could have also made its way onto that store's shelves.

The punk dress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is quite edgy for a Nintendo developed game, but is a welcomed option for those looking to spice up their in-game fashion. It is the feminine counterpart to the punk jacket and jeans that can also be found in the game. Do yourself a favor and grab this killer dress as soon as possible.

6 Weird: Empty Can Kalimba

A neat small detail Animal Crossing games often have is a selection of instruments that can be used and played by players and their friends. The games have plenty of the popular and classical musical instruments you'd expect, but they also tend to have some weird or unfamiliar oddities as well.

One of these oddities is the empty can kalimba which can be crafted with an empty can, some wood, and an iron nugget provided you have the crafting recipe of course. Now you just need a train to ride on while playing it soulfully.

5 Awesome: High-Tops

Out of all of the shoe options in Animal Crossing: New Horizons why did the high-tops make the cut? The answer to that should be quite obvious once you get a glimpse of them.

Everyone has been obsessed with Air Force 1's for quite some time and the recent The Last Dance documentary brought the Michael Jordan and Air Force 1 fervor back into the spotlight. The high-tops in-game aren't exactly Air Force 1's, obviously, but they have enough colorways to match with the variety of outfits players want to wear.

4 Weird: Zipper Toy

If you clicked on this list and didn't assume something from Zipper's Easter event was going to make the cut, did you even play Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Zipper was of course the terrifyingly upbeat yellow rabbit who ushered in the game's first yearly holiday event.

Thanks to social media Zipper quickly became a focus of memes and vitriol before his departure. Fans were greeted with the opportunity to acquire a toy molded to look like his face on the last day of the Bunny Day in-game event.

3 Awesome: Summit Wall

Everyone loves a great music playlist having to do with relaxation or chill vibes and the summit wall is exactly that in Animal Crossing wallpaper form. The cascading mountains in various hues of blue and white bring a very relaxing and soothing feeling to any room in which the wallpaper is placed.

It isn't the only awesome wallpaper, though, as New Horizons is home to numerous incredible ones. Others might be a bit much for some people, but the summit wall seems like the right balance for the general player.

2 Weird: Noh Mask

The Noh mask is quite visually trying and can be quite unnerving to western players who are unfamiliar with their use. These masks are worn by actors and act as their on-stage faces. Actors will put them on in the dressing room and the moment this happens their performance starts.

Not all Noh masks look the same, but boy did Nintendo make quite the selection on the one used in-game. They're made in a way so they can communicate emotion and human expression, so that's why they can be so off-putting out of context.

1 Awesome: Flatscreen

Now, you may be wondering why a television made the top of the list when it is simply just a flatscreen television you've seen numerous times in real-life. Well, the cool thing about the televisions in Animal Crossing is that they play something different on them depending on what time of day it is.

Many of the programs aren't blurred blobs of color, but rather fully animated pieces. If you happen to turn it on at the right time in the middle of the night you'll even come across a weird broadcast from something or someone out of this world.
