The Last of Us HBO series continues to add big names to its cast, today announcing Anna Torv – Fringe, Mindhunter – as a recurring role on the show. She will step into the shoes of Tess, a smuggler that works with Joel to survive in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

While the exact narrative of The Last of Us on HBO is yet to be revealed, it sounds like Torv will play a significant role in the show. Appearing as a recurring character, it'll be interesting to see how showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann introduce Tess and portray her throughout the series.

Torv will be joining a cast that already includes Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Nico Parker.

HBO is reportedly giving The Last of Us $10 million to work with each episode – so expect it to be one of the largest projects the studio puts out over the next few years. "This project well exceeds the eight-figure per episode mark, so there is a multiplier effect on our economy in terms of its impact. There are hundreds of related businesses benefitting from the plethora of work," Damian Pett, president of Southern Alberta film association IATSE 212 said. Pett went on to say The Last of Us is probably the biggest project currently shooting in Canada.

The Last of Us HBO series is yet to receive a release date.
