The criminally overlooked Anodyne 2: Return To Dust will be coming to consoles in the near future. Scheduled for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Switch on February 18, 2021, the title originally launched for PC back in August of 2019 and was met with...not much enthusiasm. The very few reviews for the game were mostly positive, but it seems that people were too interested in everything else releasing around that same time.

Thankfully, Anodyne 2 will have a second chance at success with this new console port. It may not be a showcase for the capabilities of the PS5 being that it's directly inspired by classic RPGs from the PS1-era. As you can tell from the trailer below, its visual aesthetic mirrors that of Square Enix's earlier 3D titles. I think it looks brilliant, but it might not be to everyone's liking.

If you're wondering how the game plays, think of old-school Zelda titles. The first Anodyne was directly inspired by Link to the Past and Anodyne 2 seems to pay homage to Ocarina of Time. This sequel does feature a mixture of 2D and 3D sections, but it clearly is aspiring to be like something you may have played in your youth.

When the game does release, it will be available digitally for $19.99 on your platform of choice. It will ship with language support for English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Japanese. There will also be trophies and achievements if you happen to be into those things.
