As we reported last October, congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's first Twitch stream was pretty goddamn successful. Just hours after kicking off, it was already at 450,000 concurrent viewers, which isn't bad for your first time live on the site. Unsurprisingly, it turns out this feat was actually world record-breaking, as AOC has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records this year for the most successful debut stream.

As spotted by someone over on Hasan Piker's subreddit - a left-wing streamer who appeared on the record-breaking broadcast - AOC's Among Us game has been recognized as having the most views of any debut stream on Twitch. This was aided not only by the novelty of a politician playing video games, but by the immensely famous lineup of guests she brought on, including fellow congresswoman Ilhan Omar, as well as streamers such as Pokimane, Dr. Lupo, and DisguisedToast.

The Among Us stream was held in aid of getting the vote out in the runup to the 2020 presidential election. Throughout the game, she would remind everyone to ensure they're registered to vote, and would also encourage them to make plans to get to a voting booth on November 3. Despite a few technical difficulties (and AOC not being the best imposter in the world), it quickly became the most popular live stream on the site at the time, several times over.

She later joined yet another game of Among Us, this time joined by Canadian MP and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. They raised $200,000 for charity and discussed various policy issues such as healthcare and climate change.

This wasn't the first time AOC made a high profile appearance on a Twitch stream. She made a surprise drop in on Hbomberguy's charity playthrough of Donkey Kong 64, which raised $340,000 for Mermaids, a group that supports transgender youth. As well as speaking about her love of gaming growing up, she also expressed her support for trans rights, which many consider the highlight of the stream.
